  • Re-Induction or Lower rungs?

I've been on Atkins for 2 years this February. I am on Rung 9 and have been maintaining around 145lbs for over a year with 2 lb fluctuations +/- . I feel stagnant. I've posted this similar story in the past. My goal is 130lbs but at this point I would take any #in the 130s or even a solid/muscular 140 (I'm 5'5"). I know we lose inches first. I did have a few cheats over the holidays and want to get back on point and I am ready!

Now I am trying to decide if I should go on a strict induction again or drop it down a couple of rungs and do mostly an induction diet with the exception of plain yogurt, occasional whole grains & fruits. Out of the three non induction foods, I really feel I need to eat yogurt daily to keep my GI tract in good working order. But maybe my body needs to get "shocked" into weight loss through a strict induction. What do you guys think? Any similar experiences?

      Good morning Erica,
If yogart is the only thing keeping you from Re-Inducting, you can replace it by taking a Pro-biotic in which will be just as effective for your GI.
Go ahead and give Induction a try. You'll be able to move up the rungs rather quickly because of the small weightloss that is before you. A couple of benifits to Induction. It refamiliarizes you with discipline and portion sizes. I know cause today is day 5 of re-induction for me.
I'm sure whatever it is you decide, you'll be successful.

Thanks for the good ideas! Happy New Year to you guys too! Come to think of it when I was in the lower rungs and before I started eating real yogurt I used to take Pro Biotic Acidophilus tablets daily!

            Re: Re-Induction or Lower rungs?

I would have to disagree. If you want to tone up or just lose a few pounds, I would increase cardio and/or a few weeks of high rep low weight toning exercises. Just my $0.02, and I don't know what your current exercise plan is. Someone here has an interesting quote in their signature block and it goes something like this: "If you want to look good in your clothes, do Atkins. If you want to look good out of your clothes, do Atkins and exercise." This hit home for me as I am now turning into a skinny, flabby person. I used to look better at this weight. Time to hit the gym again.

              Re: Re-Induction or Lower rungs?

I exercise about 5 times a week with a mixture of weights, exercise machines, leg exercises, running and going to the boxing gym. That has always been a constant for me.

Lol! Thanks, yeah I decided I am back on re-induction. Today makes day 1. I definitely agree that it takes both diet and exercise to see changes!!!!
