  • An old dog learned new tricks!!!

    I made a few discoveries this time around that may help some of you with your struggles during induction.

    1. Caffiene does NOT effect ketosis/lypolisis so if you just HAVE to drink it your ok but it sure feels good when you dont for about 2 weeks.

    2. Sugar free hard candies like Crystal Lite etc. are great to snack on when you have a craving for candy ( or just something in your mouth). They also do not effect K/L but will give you crazy gas so watchout.

    3. Pork rinds are great on salad so you feel like your getting a crouton fix as well as with taco salad, and for dipping.

    4. Frozen cool whip in a tub will satisfy an ice cream craving. And its very rich so you dont have to eat a whole lot. A few bites will do the trick.

    5. After not having sugar or caffiene for 3 weeks I dont crave it at all anymore except around menstration time so the above carries me through.

    Thank you for posting your own experience with these, but I feel that many people would be better off by not adding non-induction things like caffeine, sugar alcohols and cool whip from the start.

    From what I have read around lowcarb boards this is very much a YMMV thing - your mileage may vary!
    Some people have no problems staying in ketosis and losing weight with caffeine, many others find they get cravings and cannot lose weight by ignoring Dr Atkins advice to cut it out.

    As far as I know most of these are sweetened with sugar alcohols which many people cannot eat and lose weight on.
    Why not eat something highfat and allowed instead?
    Starving your sugar monster is often able to be achieved by not using sweets to satisfy it on induction.
    Also we are limited to three servings per day of all 'legal' sweetener in foods and drinks.
    4. Frozen cool whip in a tub will satisfy an ice cream craving. And its very rich so you dont have to eat a whole lot. A few bites will do the trick.
    Doesn't cool whip contain sugar or one of its aliases like corn syrup? Much better to make your own 'legal' ice cream by whipping up cream and adding a legal sweetener or eat something else high in fat to feel filled.
