This is day 11 for me and I've been so sleepy lately, not sure why, my eyes are just really tired, I remember having a lot of energy last time I did induction, so I'm not sure what is going on...I have become suspicious that everything has sugar in it, I know it's not true, but lately everything tastes sweet to me...I think it's my guilty consciounsce because I caved and had a drink of my husband's diet pepsi the other night (i'm trying to cut my 12 pack a day habit and also avoid sweeteners, I've had no soda, diet or otherwise, for 12 days) and it was awful, I couldn't even choke it down, but the desire to have a soda is there, I don't know if it's just because it became an addiction and a bad habit to just grab for one constantly, but I really don't even like the taste, but I still crave it, so for now I'm looking for alternatives to my iced tea and water...I'm getting a little burned out. Any ideas?

After 3 more days move up into OWL. THe change will do you some good. You can then add a couple of CAffeine free Splenda Sodas. I like the Shasta line. THe fizzy drink helped curb my cravings. I was dog tired for about a month, so I think your fatigue is normal for you. Be sure to take a multivitamin and drink lots of water. Your body is changing, so I am sure it is just fighting you back. Good luck and Happy NEw YEar!

Wow! You have really made some wonderful changes! Congratulations! No wonder you are so tired. I don't know if this will help or not but when I feel especially tired I go outside and force myself to take a walk and get some exercise, the sunshine, fresh air and beauty around me seems to really improve my mood and energize me. Also drinking lots of water. Good job! You are really working hard to improve your health and your life! I hope you start feeling more energetic soon! Don't get discouraged. Keep up the good work! (I gave up soda a year ago and I still miss it!)

Aspartame messes up a lot of the brain - while it's zero calories, the sweetness causes other trigger to eat. I found success by drinking soda water for the fizz and taking diet kola capsules ( dietkola_com ) - no aspartame, but all the other stuff that makes a coke so 'good'. Good luck!

Thanks big Rob, I'm kind of afraid to go to any soda right now, just because I was in such a bad habit of drinking nothing but soda for the longest time...but I am going to try to add in some fruits and nuts here in a couple days and I'm trying to figure out what type of vitamin will work for me. Thanks for the encouragement, I really need it.

            Liz,
Thanks so much for the encouragement. It has been kind of weird but not as hard as I thought it would be, I seriously could drink a 12 pack a day of soda...I went from regular soda to diet soda the first time I did low-carb, but my diet soda habit got just as bad, so I'm really trying to rid myself of that craving. I'm going to try to get myself in the habit of walking, like you suggest, my pupper dog could use a bit of exercise, too! Thanks again, all your suggestions have been great!

I've heard that, too, that aspartame can mess with your head. I've done very well at avoiding it so far, but I think as a little reward to myself I might try a Splenda soda, I know the Diet Rite ones are aspartame free...we'll see, I feel better, not nearly as bloated or gassy since stopping the soda, so that is good!

Ugh, if you are on induction, then the next step is OWL Rung 1 -- which means you'll eat more veggies, not nuts or fruits.

About vitamins, you might want to read this

Oh, wow, I didn't realize, I'm kind of going off of memory, I need to get out the book and re-read it then...I was looking forward to some berries this week! Blah!

                    Re: Addictions and sleepiness

I sometimes treat myself to a bottle of sparkling water if plain old water from the tap doesn't appeal to me. With a slice of lemon and maybe some ice cubes it is what I choose when in a restaurant too.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
