    Hi All,

    Hope you can help

    Exercise:

I unfortunately cant exercise at the moment due to some injuries I have. I had watched an atkins dvd where they had a Q&A part at the end. In it Dr.A himself says that you CAN lose weight with the induction even without exercise, is this the case please? I do intend to exercise eventually but that will be in about 3 months time and if I can lose weight by then it will certainly help with my injuries too.
    Thank you

    Re: Exercise

yesssss... you will lose weight just lolling about in bed. exercise of course will up-the-ante, plus the more muscle-mass, the more effectively you burn fat. In 3 months/no exercise, you could easily lose 25/30 pounds, although mileage may vary depending on how much you have to lose in the first place.

      Re: Exercise

I am seriously physically disabled and could not exercise at the first, but I lost a lot of weight. I did, however, start to exercise as soon as I could. I started at what would now seem like a ridiculously light workout, but I got my strength back quickly and steadily moved forward.

There is some kind of exercise that you can find to do, no matter your health or injuries. I started out lightly exercising sitting in a chair or lying in bed.

I still remember starting to lift weights. I used 2-lb. dumbbells and sat in a chair. After only five minutes, I was pouring sweat and my heart was racing. I hurt so bad that I had tears streaming down my face, but I did it. Now, I can lift 5-lb. to 8-lb. weights for 40 minutes with no pain.

Sitting in a chair and doing hand circles is exercise. Lying on a bed, lifting up your leg and doing foot circles or toe writing is exercise.

People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

            Re: Exercise

There is an even greater need to exercise than to assist in losing weight. Blood pressure responds well to exercise. Most docs recommend around 45 minutes daily on a treadmill to see results (which I have). If you think you look unhealthy and unappealing being overweight, imagine how you'll look when a stroke puts you in a wheelchair or paralyzes the muscles in part of your face. Weight is one of the three great risk factors for stroke. (the other two are: high blood pressure & smoking tobacco).
