  • Back to induction....looking for support

Okay, so this time it's really it. I am sticking to it. I started anew this morning with my 2 hardboiled egg breakfast. I am going to plan everything out this time around. I find it hard with three boys and a husband who eat whatever they want. I found that in order for me to be successful, I need to have veggies diced up and ready to go as well as cooked chicken, etc. I have one question though. My friend eats cold cuts on atkins (like salami and bologna). She still has weight loss. Is this okay?
I have a question too, I read that you can expect to lose 10% of your total weight on the induction. Is this really true? Have people found this to be accurate?
Any advice on that would be great!

Cold cuts: different people have different reactions. Several people here have vetoed them claiming either sugar additives or nitrates to be evil. I find I can have them in moderation although most ARE packed in sugar and the sodium content is typically high. For me, too much sodium = water retention = not a happy weigh-in!

10% weight loss: I think it's more like "UP TO" 10% loss. Of course, if you've already been through Induction before (and fairly recently), you may not see those kinds of numbers. If I could lose 10% of my weight every time I inducted, I'd do Induction for 8 weeks and be at goal... LOL!

I think for most people who have families, the rest of the household is not doing atkins with them. It's something you just need to learn to work with and it can be done..

My husband and stepdaughter too can eat whatever they want, but rarely do I make different meals for them and myself. I eat the same as them, meat and veggies, but they have a starchy side. I don't. I no longer make meat with 'shake and bake' breading on it...I don't buy convience meals, frozen french fries, etc and they're also much healthier for it. If they have tacos, I have taco salad, if they have burgers i have a bunless burger. Occaisionally I'll make them pasta, and i'll make myself something different. It really isn't that much more work if you plan properly.

I keep the snacks in a separate cupboard that I rarely need to go into. Out of sight, out of mind.

Alot of the times my husband and stepdaughter are having a low carb dinner with me and don't even realize.

I think "up to" 10% of body weight - and that is biggest loser numbers with a ton of exercise! I lost 10% of my body weight in about 2 months, which I think is great. You need not to worry about time. I made that mistake among other mistakes the 1st time around and gained it all back. My 2nd time around is more understanding of the real goal of positive health and good eating habits.

My DH doesn't follow Atkins or LC for that matter. We have breads and pasts in the cupboard. I am mentally done with those foods. Granted, I am human and would be tempted normally but I found that meal and snack planning is the best way ever! If you listen to the support here and get your veggies pre-prepped and meals in plan you will be just fine! Good luck to you!

The 5-10% suggestion is of the total amount you hope to lose - so if you need to lose 100 pounds, a loss of 5-10 pounds would be 'normal' and if you have 15 pounds excess poundage to lose then a loss of 12 ounces to 24 ounces would be 'normal' in the first 14 days.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
