  • Does my menu check out?

    I am on day 4 of the Introduction Phase. I have yet to weigh myself, I am trying to keep that as a once-a-week occurence. But I did go and get the Ketosticks last night, and according to those I am at the "Trace" level. Is this enough to be in Ketosis or do I need to be in the next level up?

    The whole concept of this deit is still very strange for me, as it goes against every other diet I have been on. I wanted to make sure what I am eating is okay..

    Breakfast
    3 eggs, scrambled
    2 pieces of turkey bacon

    Lunch
    Turkey burger pattie with provolone and some mayo
    1/2 cup of egg salad

    Snack
    Celery with cream cheese

    Dinner
    Chicken, cooked in olive oil with garlic, salt and pepper
    an allowable veggie on the side or a chopped salad (2 cups of iceberg lettuce, 1/2 tomato, 3 - 4 tbsp blue cheese dressing--a serving is 2 tbsp, and bacon bits)

    Or sometimes instead of chicken I will have a filet; lean hamburger pattie with cheese, slice of tomato, slice of lettuce, mustard and mayo; or lean italian sausage.

    I am going to try to switch it up a bit once I get a better idea of how many carbs are in things. I just wanted to get the opinions from the veterans on my start!

    looks pretty good. I dont know what is in your turkey bacon, bacon bits, or turkey burger patty though.

    Is the burger patty breaded? If not it should be fine.

    The bacon and bacon bits-- you should check the ingredients to make sure they aren't cured with any hidden sugars.

        Thanks Ladies!

        I will be sure to add some more veggies!

        Also... I just peaked at the ingredients on my turkey bacon and turkey italian sausage, and it does list sugar as one of the ingredients, but list carbs as 0g. Is this enough to throw off my weight loss?

          Any cured bacon is gonna list sugar, cause sugar is used in the brining process. What you don't want is any sugar added...like maple bacon.....
          Although do note.....the salt in bacon and processed meat may stall you/make you retain water.

          As for itallian sausage, check the brands.....there are brands without sugar. Or, buy yourself some ground pork, turkey, or whatever, and some spices and make your own!
