  • measuring inches

Okay, I want to measure my inches, where exactly do I put the tape measure?
I know the arm and thigh, but where exactly on the stomach do you put the tape measure?

    Re: measuring inches

    hi
I found this on the About.com site:

    • Bust: Measure around the chest right at the nipple line, but don't pull the tape too tight.
    • Chest: Measure just under your bust
    • Waist: Measure a half-inch above your belly button or at the smallest part of your waist
    • Hips: Place tape measure around the biggest part of your hips
    • Thighs: Measure around the biggest part of each thigh
    • Calves: Measure around the largest part of each calf
    • Upper arm: Measure around the largest part of each arm above the elbow
    • Forearm: Measure around the largest part of the arm below the elbow.

    Hope this helps!

      Re: measuring inches

I would suggest also measuring around your shoulders too and maybe even your neck, ankles and wrists.

Wow, that is all great advice! I just got brave enough to measure my waist last week and it is doing much better. I better go measure the rest, too!

        Waist: Start 40, Current 36
        Hips: Start 45. Current 43
        Thighs: 24
        Arms: 14

        First Time: 1/00 - lost 15# until got oopsy'd by #6....

Now I feel like I have to - I know I am having trouble catching my breath and I am so uncomfortable.

I need to do this not just for me but for my family. And that scares me.

          Re: measuring inches

The good thing about measuring all over is that sometimes you might not realise your wrists and fingers are shrinking when your waist is not and it helps encourage you to keep going if you see something getting smaller even if the scales and your main measurements are not.

As well as losing a shoe size I lost a hat size (never realised I used to have a fat head till I found some old hats that are now too big )

            Re: measuring inches

Good point! One thing I realized this summer was how uncomfortable my shoes were. I wear a size 10 and there aren't many options in an 11. My legs would swell up so much too! And my legs weren't an issue before -as I am built more like an apple.

SO I am hopeful that my size 10s will fit comfy again. But I don't think I'll give up the Sphanx!

I remember a while back one of the regulars on here had his wedding ring fall right off one night when he put his hand down!

The first thing I noticed when my weight started to drop was that my panties fit differently (they were comfortable!) and my socks didn't cut into my ankles.
