Re: Avocados
California/Mexico Average Avocado
1 fruit without skin and seeds (173.0 g)
Amount Per Serving
Calories 289
Calories from Fat 240
Carbohydrates 14.9g
Dietary Fiber 11.8g
Have you read the book? Dr. Atkins talks about eating Avocado's in the Induction Chapter, I believe you are allowed 1/2 avocado a day. But I would double check....Good Luck.

Here's the link to the USDA Nutrient Database:Originally posted by callog View PostCould someone please tell me the carbs and fiber for an avocado? Or I guess just the NET CARBS? Can u have it on induction?
It has the nutrition info to many foods and beverages.
You NEVER guess at the net carbs or carbs to anything! You might be able to estimate the carbs, but you should NEVER just say "well, broccoli looks like it will have about 10 net carbs per 1 cup, so I'll skip that." Always look up a food.
Here's a link to the Induction Acceptable Foods List:
And a link to the Rules of Induction:
If you haven't read the book, do so. There are too many things on the Net and in the real world that are just plain wrong about Atkins. So educate yourself about it so you will not injure your health.

Any idea why the database has been down for the last few days? I really need to access it, and patience is not one of my more admirable characteristics.Originally posted by not2late View Post
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Re: Avocados
The Atkins site has a carb counter and seems to have a wide variety of foods listed. http://www.atkins.com/Program/FourPhases/CarbCounter/
It lists a medium whole raw Avaocado at 12 Carbs w/ 8.5 grms fiber (3.5g net).
I use this resource quite a bit.
One of my favorites is a mexican taco salad (minus the taco) with guacamole dressing.

Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002 ed has a carb counter in the book, too.
Here are some other Net websites with nutritional data:
