  • I HAD NO CHOICE... really

Well as the title said I really and truly had no choice last night but to have a big mouthful of Throat and Cough syrup.. (Covornia) as I'm SICK SICK SICK... (thanks to my two little sick children)
I tried gargling with salt water (which I adviced someone else to do - and it normally works) but it feels like I have 5 swords down my throat.. and I can't even swallow my own spit ()
So I was dying.. thats what it truly felt like so I had to take a big mouthful.. and a smaller one this morning.. but I'm gona try not touch it again and gargle all day and keep with the vicks....
So I will defo be out of ketosis.. so I guess that puts me back to the beginning again...

Well on I plod (tissues and all)

There are also cough syrups without sugar in them. Just the first one I found on Google... Homeopathic Laboratories - Cough Syrup, SugarFree

    Hope you'll feel better soon!

Gotta do what you gotta do there. You don't want to stay sick and give it back to the kids.

You know, if you have that sort of pain in your throat and you can't swallow, I'd be willing to bet you have strep. You may want to see your dr. it's treated with antibiotics.

I've had it twice (and wouldn't wish it on anyone) and i was exactly the same: being unable to swallow..i actually had to spit into a kleenex constantly it got so bad!

For cough syrups: ask the pharmacist about diabetic safe/sucrose free syrups.

I have had a really nasty cold the last two days and for two days in a row I took children's sudafed syrup... it did NOT take me out of ketosis. Now, I could have just been lucky but perhaps all is not lost for you either?

When I'm sick, I do what works. The last thing I'm going to worry about when I feel like I'm gonna die is my diet. I've tried the sugar free syrups. Don't work for me. I have to have nyquil. If I have the capsuls handy, I'll take those. Otherwise, I grab what's in the cupboard. Hope you're feeling better soon

Oh gosh don't even worry about that. I had strep throat, which it sounds like you may have also, and I took antibiotics and cold syrup with no weight issues. Just get better, and don't sweat this - it isn't a huge set back.
