  • water gain is as difficult to lose

hi.. all... yesterday I sent an SOS post about my 1 lb gain... so I drank water all day... went to the bathroom all day...still 129 today.. so... is this really water..? fat? lol... how long does it take to lose that water weight gain? seems as hard as the fat lbs... it is no wonder we all don't go nuts over weight loss... the obstacles aside from foods... or cheating.. are.. hormones... water... salt... LiaHello, I am an autism advocate. I urge you to take care of your immune system as vaccines have heavy metals that will damage your brain and nervous system. GREEN OUR VACCINES... take the toxins out of the vaccines. 1 in 150 children are diagnosed with autism and the numbers are increasing. It is a man made epidemic as there is no such thing as a genetic one. Thank you for reading!!

The rate at which one loses water weight depends on the individual. IMO you should not freak out about going up a pound -- it might be the first time, but it will definitely not be the last!

      Amen to that.
If the scale impact you that adversely, perhaps take a break from it. I do not weigh myself during and right before TOM. Who needs that kind of grief?!

Re: water gain is as difficult to lose

When I was 280 pounds plus I had no idea what my fluctuations in weight throughout the week were as I never got on the scales.

When I started Atkins and like many of us got on those scales each morning noon and night I saw it went up and down often with no correlation with what I ate or drank - or even whether I went to the loo or not.

So I realised that my weight would always be moving up and down no matter how 'cleanly' I ate my induction menus and stopped paying it so much attention on a day-to-day basis.

I still do weigh daily but only as a habit and I certainly dont let it affect my moods or my certainty that I am eating the right way for my body eventually to lose its excess pounds.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I am an obsessive compulsive weigher. To the point that my Atkins buddy is ready to take away my scales (yes scales plural!), and occasionally I will get a little anxiety if the scale goes back up, which it did, a whole pound for a whole week and wouldn't budge. But I kept reminding myself of 3 things: #1 Our weight can fluctuate up to 7 lbs in one day and much of this is due to water retention (and for women TOM can play a huge factor in weight loss) #2 weight loss is not linear day to day weight and even week to week weight is not a real indicator of success look at month to month for better perspective #3 it took me several years to put on all of this weight, I can't expect it to come off in a week.

Remember this is a Way of Life not a short term diet, go it for the long haul and don't let a small insignificant stall get you down.
I WILL learn to feel comfortable in my own body again!

Re: water gain is as difficult to lose

Just stick with it. I have been back for about a month, and have lost 10 pounds. Over the course of the month I had a week where I got down to 174, the next day 175.5. Stayed there about 4 days, and then weighed in at 173.5. You may need to make yourself weigh only once a week. Get a measuring tape and take your measurements every two weeks. This really does work. My waist has gone from 36 to 33 inches, hips from 42 to 40. Weight normally fluctuates, it just happens. Weight loss doesn't happen overnight, so be patient. I have another 51 pounds to lose, and if all goes well it should be gone in another 6 months. If it's not, I'm going to continue on, even if it takes two years. Don't get discouraged. This is not magic, it's a metabolic process!!!
