Just been plugging along for the last three weeks, only to find that my scales were incorrect, and I was actually a lot heavier to start with than I realised!! That means all my weight measuring has been useless! Feel like hitting the beer and bread!!! Please tell me this diet is the right way to go!!!

Re: worst setback ever!
Don't quit, stick with it!! Def get a new scale for starters but I would also suggest taking measurements because you'll see a lot of change in your size that way. Sometimes you'll notice a difference on the scale but may not be able to see it...the numbers on the tape make it much more real!! If you've already been doing this WOE for 3 weeks then don't throw that away. You didn't put the weight on that quickly, so it's not going to come off that quickly either. But as long as you're following the diet to a T I'm sure you'll have great results just like the other on this board

Its the right way to go!!! Keep with it and you will accomplish your goal!
Think of all that will come out of it in the future and dont dwell on the now!

Re: worst setback ever!
Why on earth are they useless??
I'm confused.
You aren't any farther behind- or any farther ahead. It means you just have to adjust the numbers. No big deal.
Disappointing? Absolutely. For that, I'm sorry. But it doesn't negate the progress you've made at. all. If it was weighing 10lbs light, then you add 10lbs to all your numbers and keep on keepin' on. The scale being off doesn't change a darn thing. If you dropped 10lbs, you dropped 10lbs. The scale can't take that from you.
I know it's hard sometimes to act instead of react - but you already know you've made progress here. Don't let some stupid numbers shake you.

Re: worst setback ever!
I was going to type exactly what Brook did ......... disappointing yes but the loss is still the loss ......... don't focus on the number focus on the change. your loss isn't negated at all it's still the exact same loss it just has a different number attached to it.

Re: worst setback ever!
Initially my stats in my signature read
SW 280/CW ???/GW140
I reached 140 pounds and saw I still needed to lose another 10 at least, and so changed the stats to
SW 280/CW140/GW130
I had lost 140 pounds!!
After discovering that my scales were reading 10 pounds higher than the doctor's one I bought a new set and so now my stats are
SW 290/CW150/GW130
I have still lost 140 pounds!!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: worst setback ever!
This has happened to a lot of us here. I bought new digital scales after the first month and found out my old analog scales weighed 11 pounds light. It was a shock to say the least that I had weighed 296 to start instead of 285, which was bad enough. It didn't make me want to quit, but made me know how much worse I needed Atkins.
Step away from the bread and beer! That will just make the scales go even higher and won't solve a thing.People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.
