Ever since I started this WOE on Jan. 1, I've had sporadic episodes of Ketosis breath. Today, by far has been the worst. I think it is affecting the way my food tastes. Have any of you experienced it to the point that your food tastes strange?

Is this a side effect of Ketosis Breath?

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Re: Is this a side effect of Ketosis Breath?
It very well could be. That is definitely my *LEAST* favorite part of this diet... the stinky breath! Just be sure to brush your teeth a couple times a day... that's about all I can do... lol. Listerine helps as well

Re: Is this a side effect of Ketosis Breath?
I haven't tried the sugarless gum. I really make a huge effort not to put anything in my mouth that could contain anything that may turn out to be a stumbling block. You're lucky it hasn't affected you. I have to walk the straight and narrow or I find myself held back. Listerine is a very good suggestion. When you brush your teeth, brush everything...the roof of your mouth, your tongue (as far back as possible without gagging) and the insides of your cheeks. It works. I don't think 2 times per day is enough though. Small price to pay. Go to the drug store and pick up one of those little travel toothbrushes that's in a case (it's tiny) and you can take it with you. I personally want to be fit and my breath....skinny with ketosis breath is hot to me!

Re: Is this a side effect of Ketosis Breath?
I always found ketosis breath was worse in the beginning and subsided as you slowly start adding a few carbs in OWL.
I drink lots of water because my mouth gets like the desert! Thirsty isn't the word. That helps too.

Someone suggested to me to eat some parsley after meals. It is a natural breath mint.sigpicCeeMarie 267/236/180 (-31 lbs!)

Re: Is this a side effect of Ketosis Breath?
Parsley...what an interesting idea! Also, I'm what they call an 'aggressive' tooth brusher, and I swear by my tongue scraper. I used to chew a ton of sugar free gum. I really think it supported my 'sugar' habit...it was as if I couldn't go more than about 15 min/day without a sweet tasting treat...I was totally addicted!
It comes and goes and is getting better. I appreciate all of your insights/suggestions. It just made me wonder the day it affected the taste of everything I ate.
