  • Someone - maybe God ;) - loves to torture me! Sigh... LOL

So, I am at work and on my lunch break RIGHT NOW.... I head down to the lunchroom to heat up my dinner.... as I get clsoe I smell GARLIC.... lots and lots of garlic!

I get in the lunchroom and there are about 8 loaves of garlic bread and 4 PANS of different pasta dishes, all left for us by a local restaurant. We ran a story during one of our newscasts that was shot inside the restuarant. This was their way of saying thanks.....

I had to heat up my meal and IMMEDIATELY leave the lunchroom, as garlic bread and spaghetti SAUCE - not so much the actual pasta - are my nemesis..... like a vampire, I must avoid garlic ( bread ) at all costs.

Working at this place, seriously, is bad for my health. Or was, pre Atkins. Now, it is just an extremely difficult challenge on an almost daily basis.

Keep in mind...you first mini goal could be achieved in a week!!! Your second goal...perhaps WAAAAYY before May!! Now, wouldn't that be rewarding?! I hate the break room food too!!! Must say though, last time someone was kind and brought a veggie tray. Stayed away from the dip! Oh, and deviled eggs! That was great. There was pepperoni too! Now you've made me hungry and I have to go fetch the celery and cucumbers!! A little ranch on the dipping side! You're gonna be hot...hang in there! And KUDOS to you for knowing when to leave the break room!!

Garlic bread is a killer Huge congratulations on braving the room and making it out again.

Food should be banned where people work unless you work in the food industry. We have potlucks weekly and fresh hot donuts of all kinds every Friday!!

By the way, my son came in today from Grandma's with soft and chewy super chunk chocolate chip cookies. I looked at the "nutrition" label. EWWW! 24 grams of carbs in one cookie and a whopping 1 gram of fiber!! I threw them aside. Hoping his skinny little 13 yr old butt will finish them off...the sooner the better!

Thanks, now if only the scale would move.... I am pretty much the same weight as I was on about January 10th.... and I only started on January 2nd, and I m not losing inches, either....

                  BUT

I have seen amazing changes regarding some complications from diabetes, so I am not upset.

Congrats on your will power Papa Deuce!
You might want to swing on by the section where you post your menu.
There might be some sneaky carbs around somewhere.
Hang in there! I look foward to seeing your "during" and "after" photos posted in the near future! I've seen some really amazing "after" photos and can picture you nice and "buff" with those twins one in each arm!

Great job in walking away! That is so hard. Last week a drug rep brought us pizza and soda... (not nearly as good as the garlic bread and pasta probably) but I felt a little left out saying 'no'. I'm sure everyone else was happy as there was more for them. 2 pizza's don't go that far! Anyways, I feel your pain. Those kind of challenges will get easier and easier as time goes on. It's worth it to reach your goal!

Oh, man, I hear you about the garlic bread. I have to endure it every day! I work in a high school cafeteria and one of the things I do is help make pizza. Not a problem for me, but I work right across from our baker, and she makes these killer rolls, and when she starts slathering on the melted margarine with the garlic the smell drives me absolutely insane.

I applaud you for beating a retreat when faced with that enemy .
