I'm thinking about buying this game and I just wondered if it's truly worth it (we do already have the Wii console) or if it's a gimmick. I'm doing actual non interactive exercise activity and maybe that game is just for beginners to get them off the couch. I'm not sure if I should spend the money that the game and accessories cost or if I should take that money and buy some more equipment...like a balance board.

Re: Anybody have a Wii Fit?
I think it IS worth it, if you use it. And the more you do, the more advanced you get (it unlocks more options). It's not quite the equal to a class at the gym, but there are a lot of good exercises. And, I LOVE the way it tracks your weight, BMI, balance, etc. I have one and don't use it nearly as often as I'd like -- it's more for fun that fitness when I use it. But, I could definitely see it being a good outlet for regular exercise.

Re: Anybody have a Wii Fit?
My mom got it for me for Christmas but I would have got it for myself anyway, it is really cool because you log in your weight and age and the game tracks your weight and bmi index...it has yoga, cardio, weight training, and fun balancing games, they keep you occupied so you don't even realize you are excersizing...my kids and I battle all the time and it's become a huge competition! My son has learned the secret and doesn't actually "exercise", but if you do it the way it's intended to be done, it really is a workout, sometimes I'm so sore afterwards, but it's a good sore. So yes, I would definately say it is worth it.

Re: Anybody have a Wii Fit?
Personally, I would say not worth it. You'd be better off getting yourself a step.
We've had one since they were launched, and all it's ever been used for in our house is as a source of something to have a good laugh doing (balancing, hoopla etc.). The kids play on it every so often, but mostly it never gets taken out the cupboard.
Perhaps you can get a good workout from it, but personally I can't see it doing anything for me that I can't achieve doing other stuff.
I've had a personal trainer on/off and to be honest they all recommend doing exercises that don't require any fancy equipment - just weights and dynabands. There is nothing you can't do with them. You really don't need any gimmicks or fancy equipment.
Oh.. one thing that is worth it's weight in gold is a gym ball - but, make sure you don't get a cheap one - they are too thin and they squash down. I had a Reebok one that was useless.
Good luck.

Re: Anybody have a Wii Fit?
I have one and love it. and my stepdaughter (16) uses it as well. She does yoga and strengh training for an hour 3 or 4 times a week..something that without the wii fit she wouldn't do.
I think if it'll get you moving, it's worth it.
It's not my only form of exercise...I also have a treadmill, balance ball weights etc.
And they're starting to come out with more and more games for it so there will be alot more variety.
I too like that it tracks my weight etc for me as well.Jen, 39, F

Re: Anybody have a Wii Fit?
My kids use it..... and I think one of the things they do is run for 10 - 15 minutes at a time.... all I can say is that almost whatever they do on it, they walk away covered in sweat.....
At 300 pounds I think I will wait before I start usuing it.

Re: Anybody have a Wii Fit?
My son and daughter-in-law have one and they love theirs, too. Again, anything that will get you moving is a good thing and this one is fun. We played around once and had a great time, even though we only did the balancing exercises. I tried the ski jump...remember the 'agony of defeat' video on WW of Sports?

Re: Anybody have a Wii Fit?
It's not like the Wii Fit will do something for you that other types of exercise can't do... and it's not the most strenuous workout ever. BUT, it is a lot of fun, which makes you want to work out. And, like almost all exercise, it is what you make of it. If I didn't have a gym membership, I'd definitely use it more regularly -- mostly for strength training and flexibility.

Re: Anybody have a Wii Fit?
i reserved the wii fit when it first came out and got it the day it was released to the stores and this thing is totally awesome first off the one thing i like is each person can have their own wii person with it and for those who want their stuff private yes you can password your wii character so people cant see your weight
it also tracks your weight and bmi for your and you can set goals on it like to loose xx number of pounds in xx amount of time
and as far as the stuff on it goes yah totally cool and cheaper then paying for the classes - i mean these are real exercises like for yoga same stuf you would learn in a yoga class - the strength training is great - the running program i love because it teaches you to run at the right pace and not to run to fast and not to run to slow
and the balance games oh man trying to beat my 211 hoola hoop record is a tough one lol
then there are other games you can buy that you need the wii fit board for like wii ski which is pretty coolStart Date 1/20/2009 Start Weight 312.5

Re: Anybody have a Wii Fit?
You've talked me into it! We will get a Wii Fit after I make sure I can pay my property taxes at the end of February!! Sounds like a tax refund investment to me!! My son is excited about it. I'm just not into many video games and I think this is a great way for us to spend some fun time together with his Wii.

Re: Anybody have a Wii Fit?
Totally worth it. More fun than exercise. I certainly wouldn't substitute it for a good, old-fashioned, butt-kicking workout; but it gets you up off the couch
Wii Sports is a lot of fun too. I got my *** kicked by my husband in tennis last night!
