  • Help!!!

I am having a melt-down!! My husband and I started Atkins on January 17th. He is doing great. He's already lost 17 pounds and losing inches. Here's where I need help. I know women lose weight a lot slower than men, but I haven't lost any weight or inches. And my ketosis strip is darker than his!! I'm getting frustrated and don't know what to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: Help!!!

There are so many possibilities, but lets start with a few....
Are you eating too many or too few calories? Try posting a few days meals, with quantities, in 'review my menu' Are you on any medication? Are you premenstrual or menopausal? how much weight do each of you need to lose?

290 lbs. on 11/02/07 Goal: 145 lbs. or size 14 whichever comes first!

      Re: Help!!!

thats what I thought.. after induction your apetite should go way down.. which is one of the reasons you can eat as much as you want on atkins... cause you shouldn't want a TON after induction.... you can't eat as much as your husband and you can't eat just because whatever you are eating tastes good but you really aren't hungry... (not that you are.. just saying) ie: if you like fried chicken skin and you filled up on only fried chicken skin as ate and ate and ate it until you have 1000's of calories a day.. you wont loose weight... the ketostix with show dark purple also if you eat a high fat meal it is sensing the fat in the meal not your fat burning off.. so just watch those things.. and it will work just ask yourself everytime are you eating out of hunger or out of emotions

        Re: Help!!!

Ditto to what Chick said. In addition, are you regular? If not you may want to try Psyllium Husks to move things along. I by a canister of Psyllium Husks at our local health food store and mix one heaping tablespoon with a glass of water to help keep me regular.

If you haven't already please post a couple days' worth of menus and include everything that goes into your mouth. Excess sodium can also cause water retention and therefore no movement on the scale.

Atkins WORKS and it will work for you too. Hang in there...

          Re: Help!!!

Thank you all so much for your suggestions! I went back to basics and reviewed the menus in the book. I have been following the plan to the letter and eat about half of what my husband eats. I guess I was just being impatient. I weighed in this morning and I am down by 7 pounds!! I feel good and for the first time in two weeks, I'm glad I have begun this new lifestyle. Thank you again for the encouragement. It helps a lot to know that there are others out there just like me. One of my problems was that I didn't think to check the carb-count on sugar-free gum!!

So glad the scale finally moved for you!!!!!! It's so funny how it will just stick when you are doing everything right. But it DOES eventually pay off!

I also almost had a meltdown last weekend. I felt SO bad. But Monday morning I woke up feeling great and the crisis was past.

So glad I hung in there!
