Hi, warbishop! Congrats on the 18 pound loss and moving from a 42" to 36"! You're moving in the right direction.
Now, onto the questions
...
- You say "sometimes salad" and "sometimes lettuce". How many veggies are you eating in a day? Are you eating any other veggies? If not, where are you getting your fiber from? Are you regular?
- How much diet soda are you drinking?
- Are you exercising?
- I take it you're on OWL - what rung?
- How close are you to your goal weight?
- It might be a good thing to put in two to three days of EXACT menus in the Review My Menu section of ADBB.

Hi honey
Looking at you food intake, I can see 2 items hat can stall you and that should be cut out for a clean induction; diet sodas and walnuts and I would add more salad.
The meats you eat ideally should be feshly prepared, not processed, limit salty meats such a bacon and ham (ham is often sugar/honey coated).

Re: Slowed weight loss, advice help please.
warbishop, I'm about to sound like your mother..."You need to eat your vegetables." Vegetables will provide you will lots of nutrients and are a staple in the REAL Atkins diet. You should be eating veggies throughout the day. Check out the list of Induction foods and pick veggies that you like from the list. You can add peppers, onions, and mushrooms to scrambled eggs. Have lettuce and tomato on your cheeseburger. Sautee zucchini in butter and add parmesan to have with a steak. The possibilities are endless.Originally posted by warbishop View PostAny time I eat a salad, I eat lettuce. And I usually eat a salad about every 3 days. I eat green beans(about a cup or two), every 3 days as well. Other that than, I'm pretty much meat and diet soda and a few walnuts. Some shrimp here and there. Now I do eat scrambled with ham pieces about every day for breakfast.
It's pretty easy, really. You know what you ate yesterday and the day before, right? That's two days worth of menus. If you don't remember then write down everything you eat for the next two days (with those veggies added).Originally posted by warbishop View PostSo, it really isnt possible for me to give you an exact meal schedule or menu. I listed what I eat 99% of the time. Most of the time when I get hungry for a meal, my usual is just sliced beaf or plain hamburger steak a little cream cheese. I really dont ingest too many carbs. Now, I probably should eat more regularly. I eat usually twice maybe 3 times a day. And I just eat until I'm satisfied but I never gorge myself.
You NEED a copy of the 2002 version of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution. That is what we follow on this board. You can check one out from your local library or order a copy online - cheap! Until you get a copy check out the rules of Induction here.
This is why you need the book. The vast majority of us on this site have an issue with carbs and have had problems losing weight. Not when we eat 30, 40, 50 carbs maybe, but FOR SURE when we eat 300+g of carbs per day and fill our bodies with white flour, white sugar, etc. Dr. Atkins' plan will add carbs back in slowly so you can find out at what daily carb intake level you stop losing weight. You might be surprised at how you can still lose weight on this plan even when taking in more carbs than you thought you could. To succeed though, you need to try it as the good Dr. outlined it. Buy the book, read the book, try the REAL Atkins plan. You'll be amazed!!!!Originally posted by warbishop View PostNow, as far as what rung am i on? I'm not sure how to answer that. Simply because the first couple weeks I was on the diet I just ate meat only. Then I basically make sure that my carb intake is under 20g a day. I know different levels allow you to eat more, but since I have always been hard to lose weight, I figure that 30-40-50 carbs, for me, might be a bad idea.
Veggies will help in this area. I buy a canister of Psyllium Husks at our local health food store and take one heaping tablespoon of it daily (I mix it with about 8oz of water and drink it). It helps keep things moving!Originally posted by warbishop View PostAs far as my bowels. Well, lol, they arent always regular on this diet I'm afraid. It comes and goes. I might could use more fiber. Any ideas on getting that done? whats a good something to eat for that?
Exercise will make a big difference - in how you feel and how you look! Shoot hoops more often, walk with a friend or co-worker on a lunch break, jump rope, start the C25K program (Google it if you're not sure what it is). The more you move, the better. You should definitely join an exercise challenge here or here (when the next one starts) - it's great motivation.Originally posted by warbishop View PostI am currently 6 ft and 249. My ideal weight for my body and my goal would be closer to 210.
Excercise - well, I want to start running. I think thats a great idea. I jus thought I'd get closer to say 230 before I started to make it easier on my knees. I just thought starting out with too much might be a mistake. I do go shoot basketball from time to time but not regularly. And 3 nights a week I do curls for my biceps.
I hope I have answered some of your questions. I hope to hear your input.
Following Atkins as designed by Dr. Atkins and exercising will get you from 249 to 210 before you know it.
Good luck! If you have questions - just ask.

Re: Slowed weight loss, advice help please.
Other than the diet Coke and the lack of veggies, your food seems a little light on fat. Atkins is high fat, not high protein. Grilled chicken and baked fish sound pretty low fat. Deli ham is usually really low fat and has sugar. Excess protein will be made into glucose and stored as fat.
As to how often you eat: Atkins said not to go past six waking hours without eating at least a snack.
Actually, I think you are doing quite well. We all have a plateau once in a while. It sounds like you are losing inches right now, which is a good thing. The scale lies. A tape measure doesn't.People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Re: Slowed weight loss, advice help please.
I agree about the veggies. Broccoli and spinach are great for regularity
That said, I went a good 3 months in which I only lost a pound or two, but was losing inches. The scale isn't everything (she says casually
) I know it's reallllly nice to see it go down, but how your clothes fit is so much a better indicator.

Re: Slowed weight loss, advice help please.
I am also stuck. I think I know where my problem is though....... full cream [I actually drink it about 10 - 15 ml per day], cream cheese and cheese. I eat a lot of eggs and bacon. Cabbage, broccoli cauliflower and red peppers would be my main veggies and then all different types of fresh meat. [nothing processed] I cook in extra virgin olive oil or sometimes butter if I run out of oil. garlic onion and herbs. Thats about it really. What do you all think.... I am working really really hard at the gym with both cardio and toning. Some people have noticed a LITTLE BIT of a difference which is nice.

Re: Slowed weight loss, advice help please.
You all are not alone....I'm stuck too!! I'm waiting around this morning to be up and moving a little while before I weigh. I've been stuck at 209ish for over a week, sometimes up a little due to ToM. I'm really putting in extra effort with exercise and developing muscle mass but I need to see the scale move! I'm ten pounds away from ONEderland and I can tell already it's going to be the most difficult 10 pounds EVER!! I've tried to move onto OWL, but I'm wondering if that was a poor decision. Don't know if I should return back to induction or not. It's tricky. No processed foods at all is difficult to implement for snacks at work. More water, more exercise, more veggies. It's got to fall into place!!

Re: Slowed weight loss, advice help please.
I eat next to no processed foods and have two snacks a day. Most could be taken to work with little trouble. That's what they make sandwich bags and small plastic containers for.Originally posted by EverLosing View PostYou all are not alone....I'm stuck too!!
