  • Shiny but not Brand New

Hi Folks.....I am here for support and guidance as is everybody else. I decided to do the Atkins in January, not so much as a "resolution" but as a "solution". I need to lose the proverbial 25 pounds, and during the month of January, stuck to the diet religiously and lost 12 pounds in January. Now, the last two weeks I have plateaued. I have not changed my diet, and I cannot understand what is going on. I am getting frustrated and really want to stick with it as I really want to reach my goal weight by the summer. I can understand why people go off these diets because they get discouraged.

Anyways, any encouragement would be helpful, and I am sure other people out there have experienced the same. How long do I have to wait before the pounds start dropping off again? Am I doing something wrong? Grrrrrr!!!

Other than that, love the diet, and will stick with it, but just need a "boost".

Perhaps OWL will help you. Many people find that moving up the ladder will do the trick on starting the loss again.
12 pounds are great. Most people do experience PISS. (Post induction Stall Syndrome). It will get going again.
Did you start exercising yet? Great for metabolism.

      Joonie,

Congratulations, you lost HALF of what you need to in a single month. It's entirely normal for your body to "pause" for awhile and adjust to your new weight. Also, you need to start working through the rungs of the OWL ladder to start finding your CCLL because you're not that far away from pre-maintenance and maintenance! Just keep on track, and the rest of the weight will go away.

Its so very very common to 'hesitate' in this program. Stick with it, the pounds will start to come off again soon. Folks around here pray for a visit from the Whooshi Fairy, she comes to the very good and will whoosh away 3, 5 and even 10 pounds in a week and then go to someone else.
Stick with it, it is just your body adjusting to this new WOE. Usually we lose water the first two weeks, then there is this little plateau and then we start losing again.
