  • Where's My Energy?

    Hi Guys,

I havent written in a while, just been busy....

Heres some stats to begin with:

Im still in Induction (as want to shed all the weight)...

    Week 1: 5 pounds lost
    Week 2: 1 pound lost
    Week 3: 3 pound lost

My goal is a loss of 28 pounds before guaging and re-assessing.

Im very happy im losing the weight, but i feel no different, there's no energy increase or anything.

I also drink JUST water now (no tea, coffee, etc) and try and eat as much greens with my protein meals as possible, yet my skin isnt any better, and im taking all the essential vitamins/minerals and EFA's.

    Whats wrong?

    Thanks

Are you eating enough fat? You are drinking water only, but are you drinking enough?

I weighed around 231 pounds when I started and after losing 9 pounds am now 222pounds so far (maybe 220 by end of this week).

Im taking multivitamins + minerals with the chromium, I was taking L-glutamine before most of the meals but dont think I need it anymore.

Im drinking around 2 litres a day easily, and hoping I reach 3 atleast of just water a day. I have no caffeine or anything else to drink just water.

Regarding the fats, well im cooking curries which is great but adding greens to it as I can to alkalise the meals and reduce any excess heat. Im also taking EFA's in the form of UDO's Choice Oils. Its supposed to be the best oil made on the market, and they suggest taking 1 tbspoon per 50 pound weight, so at the start I was taking atleast 4 a day but have increased to 6 a day.

Im doing what I can, but dont feel anything major at all, is this normal?

        Thanks

          Re: Where's My Energy?

What do curries have to do with the fat intake? I'm confused...

I suppose you are using Fitday or some other program to track your food, right? What are your typical fat, carb and protein percentages (out of the total number of calories)?

          Can you post a menu?

In the book, there are sample induction menus. Without having to eat the exact foods in the menu, how similar are your meals to the sample meals? As Georigiana mentions, the percentages are important. Ketosis depends on a ratio of high fat to moderate protein and low carbs. You could be losing weight just because of the calorie restriction in monitoring your meals, and not be in ketosis. Do you have any of the other markers of ketosis? Funky breath, smelly urine? If you aren't in ketosis, you miss out on the energy boost AND the appetite suppression.

              Re: Where's My Energy?

You're losing and it seems, doing fine, which is great. I only asked about the fats, water, supplements etc. to see if you were wildly out on anything. If you're eating these in more or less the right amounts (and you need your fats!), then you should be ok.

The only thing that seems to perplex you is that you haven't had the "energy surge" that most of us get a few days into the programme. Some of us don't though. I'd now ask if you feel apathetic, or a lack of energy? If not, I wouldn't stress it.
If yes, then perhaps post a few menus in the Review my Menu forum. There might just be something little that needs tweaking.

Congrats on your losses so far!
