    Re: Watching thin people eat...

I absolutely love people who eat, enjoy food and take pleasure in taste bud sensations and the social interaction that so often goes with eating.
I love cooking for, and watching people eat.
I love eating myself and do certainly wish that I could eat more of the dreaded "whites"... but only if they were healthier for us, which we now know they are not.

It's a shame that it's easy for some, and hard for others. A shame that for some (and most of us here), our metabolisms don't allow us certain pleasures, and it took me a while to get over envious feelings regarding others.

However, several years into eating the Atkins way, I now find myself focusing more on the wonderful foods we can eat, and ever less on the junk that wouldn't do us any good if we did eat it.
It's taken time, but it isn't so hard now. It'll be the same for you, please believe it.

True... I have my Achilles heels (wine and sugar free chocolate) which are allowed at maintenance but still cause me difficulty in the "moderation" area. Even so guys and gals... at maintenance...

    Life is sweet!

Please, please, try your best to hang in there everyone, and get to where you truly want to be. It's so, so worth it!

Sorry... I kinda got carried away there, and a little off topic. Don't mean to sound holier than thou! We're all in this together, after all.

      Sally,

You are right. It is wonderful when people can eat and enjoy the pleasure.

Eating should be an experience of pleasure.

I don't hate the thin people in my life...I just wish I didn't have to struggle. And it isn't their fault.

But, I am glad that I have chosen Atkins instead of Low-fat, Calorie Counting.

Those diets are so flat. No richness at all.

Yeah I know...but I'm slowly learning what foods I myself NEED to have in the house at all times...

One snack food I'm LOVING is Pork Rinds with Guacamole (i love making my own, but i'm lazy and buy pre-made, lol - check the ingredients, of course though...)

I also bought one of those braided mozzarellas in oil and OH MY GOD. just ONE oz is soooooooooooooooooooo good!

And of cousre sugar free jello - which is know can be "contraversial" due to the aspartame - but really? 5 calories w/no sugar or carbs or go for the oreos?...yeah i know my choice

No; it isn't in my nature to look to others in that respect. I'm way too focused on what I'm doing!

            Re: Watching thin people eat...

For me its not really about going out of my way to observe thin people eating. It's more about the people in my intimate circle who don't really understand what I deal with and try to offer me advice based on what their bodies can handle.

Watching them eat junk while trying to advise me is bothersome.

My wife of 30 years has always been very lean. She does it by eating responsibly and exercising daily.Want to fire her up, just say something about how she can eat anything and stay thin. She'll tell you exactly how to get where she is.

It bothers me more to watch my fat friends eat junk everyday. They eat far worse than I did when I wasn't strictly dieting.

I am where I am because of diet and lifestyle choices that I made. I don't feel like others should suffer because I can't do what I want and eat what I want.

I am jealous of naturally skinny friends.
