A little veggie confusion~

  • A little veggie confusion~

    I started induction yesterday, I'm working on planning my meals. I have read several times that I'm supposed to be getting 10-15 carbs from veggies/day. Should these 10-15 carbs be coming solely from the 2c. salad+1c.veggie/1c. salad? These first two days I've only ended up consumed around 10-11 carbs/day, following the 2c. salad+1c.veggie rule. Maybe I'm not calculating the carbs from the salad correctly. I just don't know-- should I be eating other veggies during the day? If so, what did/are others trying?

    You are good if you eat those 3 cups - even if it does not add up to whatever. Some of the veggies on the list are more carby than others such as pumpkin, tomato, onions so when you have those carb count will go up.

      The book says the majority of our total daily carbs are to come from vegetables. So if you are eating 20 net carbs daily, then at least 11 of them should be from vegetables. In other words, if you are eating 20 net carbs daily and only 3 of your carbs are from vegetables, then you aren’t doing the diet properly.
      Atkins.com has changed the veggie rules to say 10-15 net carbs are to come from the veggies on either list.
      Just be aware that the word "salad" is sometimes misleading. To many people a "Salad" is a pile of lettuce. But the "salad" list includes about 20 vegetables, which generally have a higher amount of carbs than lettuce.
