Very, very good information! Did you notice the opinion of low carb junk food? Every time someone asks why Atkins bars and shakes are not recommended, we should send them this link. http://www.second-opinions.co.uk/low-carb-ripoffs.html He challenges us to "find the food" in the ingredients list.

I do hate that he lumped Dr. Atkins in with the doctors/low carb diets that push low carb diet products. "Banting's low-carb dietary regime has a century of epidemiological evidence and clinical trials supporting it. It doesn't rely on the unhealthy products that Atkins does, but on natural, real foods. Correctly constituted, it is completely healthy, it works and it's safe." The real Atkins diet does not promote use of low carb junk food, but that is the perception that is out there. Dr. Atkins was not at all in favor of using them, but he was outvoted by his wife and the low carb food side of the company.

People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

"Some men give up their designs when they have almost reached the goal; While others, on the contrary, obtain a victory by exerting, at the last moment, more vigorous efforts than ever before."

In his defense: since the latest incarnation of the Atkins diet does promote the products etc, I can see his point. I mean..who's to say what the 'real' version is? many people would follow the most recent version thinking that is the most up to date without knowing. With the internet now, alot of people learn from the Atkins site how to do the diet, order the book etc.

Maybe he could have just made mention to the past versions that were whole foods, but he's not really in the wrong saying that about the most recent version.
