  • Questioning myself

    Hello folks,

I'm beginning to question why I even began this diet. It's only day two and the thought of meat, cheese and eggs is making me sick. I had to make myself choke down a breadless cheese steak for lunch because it had been over 6 hours since I had 2 eggs and 3 slices of bacon.

I'm not a big meat eater. Chicken and turkey are my least favorite meats. I don't care for fish or eggs. I do love cheese I don't like scrambled, omelets or quiche.

Am I crazy for even trying this?

    Re: Questioning myself

Hi, 2fat2! I don't think that you are crazy. The best advice that I have to offer is experiment, experiment, experiment. (Experiment with food that is.) I use different legal spices and seasonings to jazz up my meat and veggies. That way they you have plenty variation. Also you can use heavy cream sparingly and whip up a mock alfredo sauce with some parmesan and cream cheese to pour on your meat. You can make cheese chips and flavor with different spices. The possibilities are endless and you might find a new favorite. As far as eggs go I sometimes will pretty much puree a boiled egg and put into some tuna or chicken salad. I hardly notice it there. You just have to try and experiment and find what works for you!

Welcome to ADBB~~you'll find a ton of support here.

This way of eating is not all meat, cheese & eggs. Are you eating any veggies? Have you read Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution~~2002 version? The list of foods that are allowed is quite extensive. Here are a few links that may be helpful. Good luck!

I hope you find foods you really like here and stay with us and the diet. Atkins is the best thing you can do for yourself, if you can tolerate it. Good luck!

What about your veggies? Gotta eat them! Then you can add your meat, cheese, etc to a nice salad, etc. Have you read the book, esp the chapter on induction? If not, you really do need to. Good luck!

            Re: Questioning myself

Julie, the veggies -- and creative cooking -- make ALL the difference. I couldn't stay on an all meat/cheese diet more than a couple of days, either.

Check out the recipe section on this site, then take a look at Linda's Low Carb Recipes. There is all kinds of exciting food you can enjoy. Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home

The only thing is, you will have to spend more time in the kitchen to make tasty, exciting dishes. That's just the way it is, but it is SO worth it!
