  • 4th day of induction

    Hello everyone,

Today is my 4th day of induction and so far I didn't show any of the bad symptoms that people talk about. When should I expect the worse to happen? I'm particularly worried about the bad breath. I am also a bit disgusted with the amouts of fatty things I have been eating (fried bacon, eggs, mayo, stuff like that), even though I got used to it and it is not such a big sacrifice. I noticed that my appetite did shrink a little and I'm not gagging for sweets and bread like always happens. I am not a massive person either, My weight is 154 pounds and my goal is 128 (the weight I had before I moved to England 3 years ago). Do you think that the fact that I'm not obese (I am 5'9'') will slow down the lost of weight? I'm a 28 year old woman. When should I expect the weight to drop? I really miss milk as well. Is that such a bad idea?

Hey there. Welcome to the forums! Hope to see you around more

Ok first of all if you haven't experienced any of the bad side affects and you've already noticed that you're not hungry anymore... well, you skipped them Lucky you! As for the bad breath, it's not really bad breath. At least not for me. It basically just kinda tastes like you got some sweetner stuck in the back of your throat. It's more of a taste than anything, although I guess if anyone's around you they can certainly smell it. Most definitely not as big as an issue as you might think.

As for the weight - Generally you lose 10% of what you need to lose during the first 2 weeks of induction. So, you need to lose around what, 30 pounds? You should only expect to see 2 ~ 3 pounds gone the first two weeks. It is kinda slow for people who don't need to lose as much weight as the heavier people. So it's better to think of the health benefits, and think of your weight loss as a second benefit imo. Unless you starved yourself (and even then), I don't believe you'd be losing weight at a slower rate than any other dietary plan. However, the main focus of Atkins is to make it a life changing habit. The big benefit of Atkins is it's really easy to stay on for life. It curbs your appetite and, in my opinion, promotes healthier eating habits all together. Whole and natural foods are much better than processed and artificial foods pumped up on sweetners and whatever else

If a tree falls in a forest out of hearing range of any living organism, did it make a sound?

If a person eats yummy stuff without counting the carbs, did it have carbs to begin with?

Thank you so much! It is just a bit difficult sometimes when you are doing something for the first time and don't know what to expect. I will keep my posts going and hope for the best!
