I am stalling big-time and it occurred to me that perhaps the vitamins (8 grams daily of C plus others) are taking my carb count into the 30's? Any thoughts? The C's contain rice flour.

Re: Can Vitamin Supplements stall induction?
There are definitely some supplements out there with a heap of sugar &/or starch added. Some are more filler than nutrient!
Are you really taking 8 grams of C? That would be 8000 mg or the equivalent of over 800 oranges' worth of the vitamin; far more than I've known ANYone to need for maximum benefit (assuming it is the ascorbate, not ascorbic acid, form, which you are more likely to benefit from in a high dose).
I'm willing to bet you take 8 grams of a mixture that is mostly filler.~Susan

Re: Can Vitamin Supplements stall induction?
talostc, I also take quite a few supplements. I avoid the ones that contain corn starch, rice powder, dextrose, etc. But even so, I get a few extra carbs from them.
I weighed my need for the supplements, calcium, glucosamine, etc. against the carb cost. I quit taking some that I had been taking, but there are some I can't compromise on.
It REALLY bothered me at first. But the reason I am losing weight is not only for appearance, but also for my health. So I accept the slightly slower weight loss as part of what works for my body.
Hope that helps.

Re: Can Vitamin Supplements stall induction?
to bonnie stomper - yes 8,000 mg of C is my regimen. Thanks for your comment though - I will switch to straight ascorbic acid (powder). I know it seems like a great deal of C but that is another argument and if you are interested I can direct you to my research base. I do subscribe to the thoery that mega-suppplements are beneficial to health. So far so good. thx

Re: Can Vitamin Supplements stall induction?
nooooo - u misread or I may not have worded correctekkly - it is the ascorbate form you can benfit best from. Your body must generally convert ascorbic acid to calcium, magnsium, &/or potassium ascorbate to use the vitamin, which requires readily available reserves of minerals to do so. Ascorbic acid which is not able to be converted is excreted. Of course ascorbate (aka buffered) C is harder to find, but I swear by it's ability to be used by the body at once.~Susan
