  • Too Good to be true?

Normally, everyone knows that when you find something and you feel that it's "too good to be true" it USUALLY is - right?...

Well I am really getting into drinking a lot of TEA now that I can't have milk or beer (which is pretty much all i drank pre-atkins, as haven't drank pop in over 2 years...)

I bought a "Caffeine Free Chocolate Raspberry Bliss" Herbal Tea made by Celestial Seasonings and I was afraid, when I'd bought it, that it WAS too good to be true...

but i got it home - made a nice steaming hot cup with some ice (don't like drinks TOO hot) and a tbsp of sugar free da vinci caramel syrup...

and seriously - ohmygod. this stuff is absolutely AMAZING!!!!!

    n-e-who...just thought i'd share!

That's sounds so good! I am jealous! Just thought I'd use that cuz I like it!! I miss hot drinks. I drank tons of coffee per day. Right before I restarted I had just purchased a brand new expensive coffeemaker. Dang it, all!! I quit cold turkey the day I restarted. That sounds really good though. Nothing nasty in the ingredients? You're tempting me to get off my butt and go shopping.

BTW, where the heck did you get your sugar free syrup? I live near NOTHING. I'm figuring I will have to go to Nashville to get something like that. Wonder if Trader Joe's has it. I actually have to drive 120 miles to get to a Trader Joe's. I read on some sites that they don't like to ship it in the winter months because of weather and freezing. I want a few though. They sound awesome and give you many options. I'm nearly 2 months in and still haven't had any SF syrup! Keriann, I'm going to come up there some time and we're goin shoppin!!

as far as the syrups go, you CAN get them online through their website (i haven't ordered any yet, though, I bought three from sam's club - they're like $5 each but it's a HUGE bottle - and I have vanilla, caramel & kaluah...

      here's the site:
      da vinci syrups

or you can actually order em' off of amazon too. I think I may do that sometime as there's a TON of other flavors out there i'm DYING to try.

      the tea's ingredients are:
roasted carob, roasted chicory, roasted barley, natural chocolate and raspberry flavors with other natural flavors (contains soy lecithin), milk thistle, cinnamon and dark chocolate.

I know that the soy lecithin is probably a no-no in some people's eyes but that's not a big deal to me since it IS 0 everything according to the nutritional info. PLUS it's caffiene free & herbal.

here's the website on the tea:
      chocolate raspberry tea

i'm very lucky that here in Indy there's two trader joes (within a 10 mile radius, both of em - one on either side of town, and i live in the middle...) we have a whole foods here and there's tons of health food stores too.

        Psst . . . . carob is a bean - OWL rung 6
        From What is Carob?
The word "carob" can be used to describe the carob tree or the ground powder made from the pod and seeds of the tree. The carob tree grows in the Mediterranean and is scientifically called Ceratonia siliqua. It is a member of the legume family and produces pods that are long and leathery. Within these pods are hard seeds and pulp. The pulp is edible and has a sweet flavor.
Roasted chicory is made from the root of the chicory plant - I am not sure if it is a starchy one and should be a OWL rung 8 addition
Barley is a grain - OWL rung 9.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

We have one health food store here and you've got to be wealthy to shop there!! It's crazzzzy expensive. Haven't wandered in there in forever. I should check it out again though. I can easily get suckered at places like those so, in general, I try to avoid them. They have really weird store hours too. Need to go by in the next week. You'd laugh if you saw it. It's teeny, tiny.

i know i'll get a LOT of flack for saying this...but "oh well"...it's an herbal tea and i love it. plus it's caffiene free and SO much better than my mocha cappacinos from starbucks.

as long as it doesn't hurt my weight loss (and i've been drinking it for a week now) i'm happy with it!

I was under the impression that carob is a spice? no?

barley, however, definitely a grain. bummer.
