  • winter blues?...feelin' sad :(

ok - i don't know if maybe it's cabin fever or winter blues or what...but today just sucks!

we woke up around 11 - my fiance made breakfast and then he had to go to work...so i was thinking i'd go to the gym...but after a while of sitting on my butt and then trying to decide what body part i wanted to workout today i just didn't feel like going. and it wasn't a tired thing - more of a i just feel sad/depressed for absolutely NO REASON WHATSOEVER. seriously I have NOTHING to be sad or depressed about but for some reason, today, it just feel sad.

course, i really AM getting sick and tired of this weather...we bought our house on october 30 and haven't been able to enjoy our deck or yard at AT ALL yet this year and probably have another month or two until we CAN enjoy it.

ugh. yeah. i don't know i hate being in funks like this though.

just needed to "vent" i guess. thanks.

I usually get blue right after Christmas. The excitement is over and then the snow comes so I become housebound until March. So you are definantely not alone.

you can definitely vent away as well. i'm sorry.

here's part of the that elizaellen sent my way (that i TOTALLY appreciate, btw!) that i'll share with you.

tomorrow is a new day though!

course we were looking at all of the outside stuff today at wally world and SOOOOOOO wanting to grill out soon.

we are getting a fence for our side yard though, which is very exciting!
so once that's in we'll really be able to enjoy our yard. the way our house is it's a little weird...we're on a corner lot - and 'behind' our house we have a patio between our house & garage with a big wooden gate and it's fenced in from our neighbor - but on the other side of the garage is our side yard and there's no fence - so we're fencing that in and removing the gate to open it up to the side yard.
plus, we put in for an adoption of a golden retriever/golden lab mix puppy friday night (from a rescue shelter, fyi)! very excited about that!
we already have our 4 year old pug & an 8 year old calico cat so we'll have a full house this summer!
            that makes me happy.

This is very common at this time of year if you live in a colder climate, and don't get alot of Sunshine at this time of year. I started getting it the past couple of years now..and I take a supplement called 5htp that increases seratonin levels. Also, exercise can help too.

Here's some info on Seasonal Affective Disorder (winter blues) Seasonal Affective Disorder and 5htp (i like this article it's very unbiased) 5htp myth

                    Re: winter blues?...feelin' sad

Ya... I am in a funk too.... In the last week we have had well over 2 feet of snow fall. Lots of roads closed due to white out conditions and heavy drifting.

My exersize of choice is walking. That is how I lost most of my weight. AND i hate walking in the cold. I just hate it. I got a puppy in January for my birthday... ( I did not buy him... I rescued him) with the purpose of having a walking companion... and I have hardly walked... It has just been such a brutal winter. I got out last week one day when the sun was shining to the provincial park I walk at all the time and walked only one trail... most of them are impassable due to the depth of snow unless you have ski's and I am still about 50lbs away from being able to ski safely

SO my blahs are because I am simply not as active as I want to be. I have a manual treadmill and a recumbant bike... BUT its just not the same. I WANT SPRING TO COME!!!!!

                    thats my vent...

SO here is to one more bloomin week of February... WE are in the home stretch! Aren't we?????

A blue sky and sunshine? I just cannot imagine that right now. It is gray here every day this time of year. It is supposed to be "partly cloudy" this week-end and I cannot wait. I absolutely know that I need to see the sun! It always make me feel better.
