  • "not" in ketosis

    I’m curious to know if this has happened to anyone else. I have the ketostix and they are not showing even a trace of ketones in my urine. I’m thinking, I must not be in ketosis yet I’m still losing. Anybody have an idea what gives??? I’m drinking tons of water, no cheats and I feel great!

    If you are losing and feeling good, I'd say don't worry about it.

    Here's a quote from Dr. Atkins:

    As long as you continue to lose weight gradually, lose inches, have your appetite under control and experience none of your old symptoms, you are clearly burning fat. Moreover, the LTS will no longer turn pink or purple once you are taking in 50 or more grams of carbs a day, so they are of no use as people get above that level of carb intake.

      If you're keeping the sticks in the bathroom, the steam from the shower can inactivate them. Also check the expiration dates.... (I had some bottles from the last time I did Atkins - tried using them, realized they were expired!!) lol


      Restart -10/18/2009 - 204.6 lbs (UGH!!!)
      Goal 1 - under 200 - met 10/19/2009
      Goal 2 - 190 - met 10/25/2009
      Goal 3 - 180
      Goal 4 - 170
      Goal 5 - 160
      Goal 6 - 150
      Goal 7 - 140
      Goal 8 - 135
      Goal - To zip up current pants without sucking it in-10/25/09
      Goal - To need a belt/roll waistband of current pants
      Goal - To wear the next size down - 11/13/09
      Goal - To wear the next size down - without a muffin top!! 11/18/09
      Goal - To wear 'those' jeans (ya know - the ones in the back of the closet, hidden under a winter coat)
      Day 13 - wine free/ cheat free

        Many of us don't see any colour change from those pesky sticks, so if you are losing and maybe exhibit some of the other signs of beign in ketosis save your money and buy some good food instead

          Thanks for all of the feedback everyone. I am actaully following induction so my carbs are super low right now. This is just the most interesting thing because I'm on day 10 and I've only seen the stix change for one day and then nothing. yet, I'm still dropping weight because my clothes are really hanging off me now. Either way, I'll take the loss! This is also a bit of encouragement for anyone out there bummed out because the darn sticks are telling you that you are NOT in ketosis and you think you're not burning fat. I'm a living witness that you CAN still lose in spite of what the darn sticks say.
