Re: Don't know where to start!!!!

Geez, 500? I'm huffing and panting after burning off 300. You go girl!

Well first thing first: You might not lose as fast this time around. So be prepared to stay strong even if the scale moves slower! Make a list of ALL the reasons why staying on this diet benefits you healthwise - and weight loss should not be the only one Then make a list of ALL the reasons that you have to lose weight! Better self esteem, want to make an ex jealous, etc.

The second thing to do is to post a journal in journal chats You'd be surprised to learn how much more accountable you become for your cheats if you're posting in a journal daily to the world how well you did on Atkins! Stay on this board, get acquainted with all of its members... the socialization with other people doing the same thing you are, knowing that they've all felt your pain at one time or another... it also really helps

The third thing to do is be prepared! Know what your triggers are. Go shopping. Donate the bad foods (if you live alone) to a shelter. Tell your friends that you're trying atkins - I garuntee most will be more than willing to encourage you on and sometimes they can even act as a safeguard and encourage you on when we can't.

Basically this - tell the whole world that you're trying to better yourself physically on the inside and out. It makes that much harder to bring yourself to fall off

Last of all brag. Brag brag brag. Brag to us, brag to your friends, and let us all pat you on the back whenever you can come to us with a big smile and say that you've lost weight - or whatever else it is you want to brag on!

          Week 1: Down 5 (5)
          Week 2: Down 3 (

          Inches Lost So Far: 8.3

          Height: 5'7"

If a tree falls in a forest out of hearing range of any living organism, did it make a sound?

If a person eats yummy stuff without counting the carbs, did it have carbs to begin with?

Re: Don't know where to start!!!!

I think Sharon gave great advice. I am doing this for the second time around and the pounds are coming off much slower. However, I take my measurements once a week (on Mondays) and I am still losing inches, so that helps to keep me motivated. Good luck!

Re: Don't know where to start!!!!

This is all very good advice. I am taking notes myself. Another one I have for you is to be kind to yourself. Yes, you did great with the work out today, but you might not tomorrow or the next day even if you plan to. Chances are very good that you will miss a planned work out or that you will not work out as long as you wish. Be good to yourself and recognize that. If you work out for an hour, count it as a work out, but if you only walk 15 minutes or around the grocery store parking lot a couple of times, count that as a successful day.

We should all treat ourselves as we would our own best friend!

              1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
what the rungs mean to me:
              rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
              rung 4 - berries, melon
              rung 5 - wine -
              rung 6 - beans, hummus
              rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
              Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
              (on to pre-maintenance)
