  • Getting Frustrated!

Tomorrow will be one month since I started induction. I've stayed in extended induction this long mainly for two reasons, #1.. I have a lot of weight to loose and really wanted to kick this off. #2... I'VE STILL ONLY LOST 10 POUNDS!!

I've posted my diet under "review my diet"... apparently I'm not making any mistakes there. I've read the book, and follow it faithfully. I drink a ton of water (mainly to try and get the taste out of my mouth). I exercise at least 30 minutes a day. I test my ketones daily (sometime several times a day) and have been in full blown ketosis since the 3rd day. I've cut out the caffeine... steer clear of "junk" convenience foods, no maltitol or anything like that.... What else am I missing!?

The 10 pounds I have lost were within the first two weeks.. then nothing, totally stalled out.

I really want this, and I believe in it... but right now I feel so defeated - I can't even explain it. I don't want to believe that I am just destined to be obese the rest of my life... there is so much I want to do with my life and I NEED this change.

Someone please tell me what to do...

    Re: Getting Frustrated!

Sweety you're most likely not doing anything wrong. You've said you lost 10 pounds... that's GREAT! Honestly! If you average it out that's 2.25 pounds a week. And incase you haven't noticed - most diets only aim for about 10 pounds a month.

However, it's not just weight that you should be looking at. Have you kept up with your measurements? How many inches have you lost?

And let's even step away from looking at the "bigger picture" - how do you feel physically? Do you FEEL better? Are you enjoying the benefits of more energy, is your appetite getting curved, etc. ?

It's also very possible that you've actually lost more - and your weight just happened to be fluctuated upwards when you weighed yourself. I've actually stepped on a scale before one day, and step on it the next day and find myself 5 pounds lighter! I promise you that the scale is not the be-all end-all to success

    Week 2: Down 3 (

    Inches Lost So Far: 8.3

    Height: 5'7"

If a person eats yummy stuff without counting the carbs, did it have carbs to begin with?

Sharon is right! Keep up the good work. This WOE can be so frustrating because you want to see those dramatic results all the time. But believe me, you'll be so surprised one morning when you weigh yourself and you've dropped a chunck of weight! Just keep on keepin on, girl! You can do this! Above anything else, don't you feel so much better? I stopped weighing myself for about 2 weeks now, and although I'm not sure if I've lost any more weight or not, I can feel and see my body shrinking. I'm not bloated. I sleep better. I have more energy. Get rid of that damn scale and just enjoy your life! When you have to start buying new clothes because your old ones are too big, then weigh yourself! That's what I'm going to do too Good luck!

        Re: Getting Frustrated!

What happened to me and what I've also seen happening to others on the board, is that weight loss stops or slows down after the first two weeks and it restarts once you move to OWL. Staying on induction does not guarantee faster weight loss and often works against you. Add another 5 g of net carbs from veggies and the scale will most probably move again.

        Are you exercising?

          Re: Getting Frustrated!

Are you getting enough fat. Looking at your menu - you skip breakfast and then do not really eat a lot. Are you still doing that? If you use fitday it will tell you how much you eat and what your percentages are like.

            10 lbs is awesome!
I finally broke out of a 3 week stall where I yo-yo'd with the same 4 lbs.

              Re: Getting Frustrated!

Yeah... breakfast is still a hard one. I try to eat something as early in the day as possible, but it's not usually till 10AM or so. I haven't really up-ed my food intake, no. Should I be eating more? I'm not hungry or anything... I've never used fitday, but I'll look at it.

I haven't taken measurements in like a week... so I'll do that today too. Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised. I'm going to stick with it, for sure, it's just frustrating to think I'm doing all this work and not really feeling it yet. I'm not so much concerned with the idea of only loosing 10 pounds, it's more that I was loosing then just quit. But I'll wait it out.. see what happens.

              Thanks.

                Re: Getting Frustrated!

I'm frustrated as well, I been at a stand still for 2 weeks. I started out at 201 and I am currently at 190. For breakfast I eat 3 scrambled eggs with cheese. Lunch: Salad and for Dinner: Cheeseburger with another salad. I do exercise everyday either walking 40 minutes on the treadmill or do a 3 mile walk at home tape. Can anyone give me some advice on what I need to do or stop doing, I would greatly appreciate it. Good luck to you all and Congrats on your weight loss!

I'm going to try to weight myself once a week.

                  Re: Getting Frustrated!

                  Hi there

I would say definitely take your measurements every two weeks.

This is what happened to me.... I lost 10 pounds in two weeks... then another four pounds in the next two weeks and then it has taken me three months to lose the next 10.4 pounds (take a look at my signature for my exact weight loss each week - I did blip over Christmas by taking 2.5 days off - I won't be doing that again!!). However, in the time that I would have thought I was stalling, I lost a lot of inches. I did a six week exercise challenge during which time I lost less than 2 pounds but over nine inches! The total inches lost for me is higher than the pounds - 26.5 inches. Soooo, what I am trying to say is that although it is highly frustrating do stick with it - the scales started moving for me again and they will for you too. Zx

Thanks Zarabelle. I'm going to stick with it. I'm going to buy a measuring tape its just I want to see it on the scale, you know how that goes lol. I know this diet works I just have to remember it didn't take overnight to put this weight on and its not going to take overnight to get it off. I will stay committed.
