How can I do atkins if I don't like vegetables? Really really don't like them. Of course I like peas and corn but they aren't on the plan. Please help!

Re: no veggies
Can you warm up to the idea of some of the more "benign" veggies? I eat celery and cucumber slices daily with some ranch dressing to dip them in. They're really good and eating the carbs with fat helps out too. I eat green beans, broccoli, salads and those mentioned above. Cauliflower too. I can understand not liking the broc and cauliflower but celery and cucumber slices are not some of the more offensive veggies. You've got to find a way to incorporate them or you'll never be successful enough and energized enough to make this way of eating a way of living for yourself. Maybe we need a veggie hater sticky on the board to encourage some creativity amongst those who really have a hard time eating them. You'd be amazed at how great you'd feel if you started fueling your body with veggies.

Re: no veggies
i never hated veggies (always liked salads) but I wasn't a huge fan of stand alone veggies (like a side of broc) prior to starting this WOL. Boy has that changed! Veggies are a VERY important part of this plan and I really think once your start restricting other things, you will be shocked at how many things you've never eaten before start to appeal to you. There are so many creative yummy things you can do with veggies while following atkins, you just have to give it a shot!

Re: no veggies
Think outside the box! You can really jazz up vegies on this WOE. I was not fond of vegies until I started atkins. Have learned a new appreciation. I personally have found I prefer raw vegies to cooked. I am hooked on green peppers at the moment. Just keep trying new thing! Zucchini is very tasteless and makes a great vehicle for dips...... many vegies are like that. Check out the recipe section. Baby spinach is another of my favorites........ I use it all the time in omlettes. I get alot of my vegies that way...... in an omlette.Bren

Re: no veggies
how about green beans with bacon? there's SO many options of how to eat vegees without having to eat them by themselves...go to RecipeZaar.com and you'll find TONS of vegee recipes that are VERY delicious!
try the mashed cauliflower - (like mashed taters, only with cauliflower) - also, there's SOOO much you can do with "riced" cauliflower...
cauliflower pizza crust
do you like pumpkin pies? while pumpkin is a little higher in carbs, it's allowed on induction and there's a TON of things you can do with pumpkin as well
Pumpkin bake
8oz cream cheese, softened (Philly Light)
4 eggs
1/2 c. splenda
1 1/4 c. canned pumpkin
1/2 Tb. pumpkin pie spice
1 t. cinnamon
Combine all ingredients. Pour batter into a glass baking dish that has been sprayed with nonstick spray. Bake in a 350 oven until center is done - it will look 'puffed', but will shrink down as it cools. Makes 4 large servings w/ approx. 6 carbs per serving
and, of course, Linda's site is fabulous for vegee recipes
Vegees @ Linda's Site
but like everyone else has said, you REALLY need to eat your vegees with this way of life.

Re: no veggies
I can do a salad at lunch with little problem. I can manage the cucumbers and radishes. What type of dip can I use for the other vegetables?
Are tomatoes considered a vegetable that are okay on this diet?
Can I have one sugar free popcicle a day during induction?
Oh my, how bad I want the weight loss. How many vegetables do I need to do...to say I've had my quota for the day.

Re: no veggies
Hi Tracey,
I'll take your questions one by one.
In induction, you should be eating 3 cups of veggies per day -- 2 cups from the salad veggies list and 1 cup from the "other veggies" list. The lists are here:How many vegetables do I need to do...to say I've had my quota for the day.
If you don't have the book (buy it
), you can read the induction rules here:
Dr. Atkins said we can use dressings that have no form of sugar or other illegal ingredients added (wheat for e.g.) and less than 2 carbs per tbsp.I can do a salad at lunch with little problem. I can manage the cucumbers and radishes. What type of dip can I use for the other vegetables?
Yes, tomatoes are one of the vegetables allowed during induction. However, they are on the "other veggies" list because are quite high in carbs, so you are limited to 1 cup per day.Are tomatoes considered a vegetable that are okay on this diet?
My advice is to stay away from them. Eat nutritious food, not popsicles. Can I have one sugar free popcicle a day during induction?"Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: no veggies
Additionally, the majority of our daily carbs is to come from vegetables. So if you are eating 20 net carbs daily, at least 11 of them must be from vegetables, not cheese, eggs, cream, bacon, etc.
