  • hey all did I hurt my diet today? :(

    So I am from the south and go to publix market alot, I really dont have the time to cook things on my own so I am starting the induction, yesterday all i ate was a roasted chicken leg and thigh, I took all the skin off it and just ate the meat.

    Today I think I kinda went overbboard, I ate a whole bag of porkrinds, though not at one sitting, I drank one bottle of diet rite soda, I am not a big soda drinker I did not drink any yesterday all i drank yesterday was ice cold water. I also had for dinner Publix fried chicken tenders, I took as much skin off the chicken tenders as I could before I ate them, four chicken tenders total.

    This is all I am eating today, Did I go very overboard or will I be okay? thanks

        To be successful and satisfied while doing Atkins you should be getting in a variety of food throughout the day - including vegetables.

        Check out Atkins Low Carb Dieting - FAQ's. In particular What are the Rules of Induction? and What foods can be eaten on Induction?.

        This is a wonderful way of eating (WOE) if followed properly.

          All you are eating is chicken and pork rinds?

          What about veggies? Or fat? What you are doing now is not Atkins. Check this link to get an idea of how Atkins should be done:

              I think taking off the skin if what made "steady_as_she_go" ask if you read the book....The fact is that the book need it to be read more that once for full comprehensive..
              Take a few days as learning and practice and then start real induction.
              Chicken + 1 or 2 cup of salad with the animal skin and some extra fat (olive oil, or so with your salad)..that will be an Atkin lunch.

                It was more than "taking the skin off" the chicken that made her ask. None of what this person is doing is Atkins.

                The question being: "did I hurt my diet today?" Tell us what is "your" diet? Atkins is eating lots of whole foods (meats, fish, poultry, eggs, aged cheese), healthy fat (butter, olive oil, mayo, cream cheese, sour cream) and low carb veggies. No breading on meat. Little to no processed foods, like diet sodas. No American slice cheese.

                I am an "actual people" that has been doing Atkins for over three years and have lost over 120 pounds, and you won't get any reassurance from me that what you are eating resembles Atkins in any shape or form.

                Read the book again and you will see how the right mix of quality protein and fat combined with healthy low carb veggies (you have 59 to choose from), drinking lots of water and exercise is what Atkins is all about.
