  • Amazing WOE Body Changes!

I'm still stuck in my stall... and no difference with the tape measure, but amazing things are happening.

I am developing a very defined waist and my stomach is flatter! I haven't seen a waist in a couple of decades! Don't ask me how that can be when the tape measure doesn't show it, but it's a noticeable improvement.

I've added a light upper body workout to my bike riding, and I think I am putting on muscle. My calves are 3/4" larger and a lot shapelier, and my arms and chest look a lot better.

Most important is that my skin tags are almost gone. Simply disappearing!

I am a Florida native and have had several skin cancers removed. But I have noticed that several precancerous spots on my hands are also disappearing!

I do know that Dr. Atkins said cancer cells need glucose to survive, and when we are doing Atkins, we don't have a lot of glucose. But for whatever reason, my body is so much healthier now!

Also, I had been exhausted, discouraged and irritable. But this morning I woke up feeling absolutely fantastic! I realized that I was not over the effects of my bug and that was what was causing the exhaustion and irritation.

AND instead of riding my bike in the mornings, I rode it last evening... and the difference is amazing. I am not a morning person, and riding the bike in the morning was a chore. But last night, it energized me and I felt wonderful afterwards!

So even if I stay stuck in this stall for a while, when I compare how I look and feel now with two months ago, it is like I am a different person.

I would especially like to thank the people who encouraged me through the bad times the last few days. It changed my perspective and restored my positive, hopeful outlook!

congrats- keep up the good work. your body will love the change in your workout- keeps it guessing and it is a great thing that you have added weights. doing cardio shrinks the body- but adding a weight routine will change the shape of your body- sculpting your muscles and making your body more streamline.--it is a great thing. another thing you might want to try is intermitant cardio on your bike.--i always do my cardio like this....for example on a bike- the first two minutes are warm up- at about 50% exertion, the next minute 60%, the next 70% the next 80%- the next 90%- then back to 60, 70, 80, 90% --do this for 18 minutes- the 19th minute is all out 100% exertion- push yourself as hard as you can for a full minute- then the last minute is cool down for 40% output--for a total of 20 minutes- I guarantee you will be sweating buckets and the change up might help you break your stall.

Hey Sunny One - what a great post! It's so easy to get hung up on the scales and the tape measure, and relegate the other improvements to the bottom of the list (speaking from grim experience here! ) The differences between your two piccies are really obvious. Keep it up.

Interesting about the skin tags - each time I have been on Atkins I notice that I seem to have fewer grey hairs. I'm fortunate that I only have a few, but when I stick to Atkins it seems that all the hairs that fall out naturally when I brush/dry my hair etc., are the grey ones - leaving the brown ones behind, and this makes the overall look more brown again (hope that makes sense)! I thoought it was my imagination at first, but it does seem to happen each time! I have a few harmless skin tags, so I will have to keep an eye on them.

Anyway, just wanted to repeat the 'well done.' You always have such positive words for everyone else - so here are some 'back at you' (in the nicest possible way)

Pipee, I really like the idea of the intermittent cardio. Thanks!

CP, I really appreciated your post.... a LOT!

Atkins isn't doing anything for my gray hair, but I have a little bottle that can fix that!

          Hello Sunny One,

I kind of do the intermittent thing also.

When I go on the treadmill, for 5 minutes I use light hand
weights to get a little work on the arms, and then after
5 minutes I walk without them, then go back and fourth
alternating with and without hand weights every 5 minutes.

Once I get a little better back into shape I will try to always
          use them

Koober, you just gave me an idea. I could do some hand weight reps while biking!

            Great idea!!!!!!!!!

              Re: Amazing WOE Body Changes!

Thats what I do, so at the same time you get a little upper body workout,
              even with light weights.

I USED to have the best treadmill, it was a normal treadmill however on
the sides were like ski pole things and you could adjust the resistance.

Best workout ever, and even then I did 5 min using the poles and the
next 5 just walked fast without. I swear the results were amazing.

And it takes no extra time, your just adding to what your already doing : )

                Re: Amazing WOE Body Changes!

That is great news Sunny_One, congrats.

It is true that cancer needs carbs to survive. I have an 11 year old staffordshire bull terrier that was diagnosed with cancer in October 2005. We were given 12-18 months but I did heaps of research and completely changing his diet and with the help of holistic therapy he is still here. His diet is mainly human grade (often organic) meats, cottage cheese, yoghurt, flax oil, oily fish with just a small amount of sweet potato and zucchini added.
And he is still here more than 3 years later and going strong I might add.

So that to me is proof that a diet low in carbohydrates is better for all creatures great and small with cancer - it gives them better quality, longer life...

Jodes, that's an amazing confirmation! So happy your doggie is still with you.

Just for the record to other readers, Dr. Atkins did not say that his diet would cure cancer, but that it would slow down the growth of cancer cells and was helpful when people were taking chemotherapy.

But the fact that it makes a difference is HUGE to me!

You've got to say, I think that if I keep working at this and want it badly enough I can have it. It's called perseverance.--Lee Iacocca
