  • Chocolate extract

Hi, I have already posted this in the OWL forum a few days ago, but it is pretty quiet over there, so I'm just posting it here as well - in case anyone can help?

    Chocolate extract

I've seen several recipes that use this - I can find two suppliers in the UK. The ingredients on one website say Chocolate Extract, made with cocoa extract and cocoa powder Contains alcohol (37%) and on the other site - Water, Alcohol, Chocolate Extract. Alcohol: 45% by volume.

Does the alcohol mean it will have to wait until rung 5? Or, as you only use a teaspoon in a recipe, is it rung 3 - for the nuts and seeds rung?

On a similar note (chocolate!) can anyone tell me what the chocolate syrups on the lowcarbmegastore website are like - the WF chocolate, and the two Da Vinci oones?

    Thanks

    Re: Chocolate extract

I would wait till you are at the alcohol rung of OWL to use those.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

      Re: Chocolate extract

      Hi Elizellen

I thought that was probably the case - will have to check some of the flavourings I have in the pantry to see what they contain as - probably some of them will be alcohol based too. Presumably cocoa powder is rung 3?

      Thanks

        Re: Chocolate extract

Some people treat cocoa powder as a spice and allow themselves maybe a teaspoonsworth on induction - counting the carbs from it of course

For larger amounts than you would use a spice in a recipe, you are right - nut rung (#3) of OWL
