  • A Perfect Day

I have been trying to get back on track for three full months. Some days I would get the exercise in and slip on my carb count. Other days I just couldnt drink my water. It took me weeks to get restarted with exercise on a daily basis. The past two weeks my exercise level has been great and I have been upping the water bit by bit.

But the WOE has been the toughest thing to get back to.

FINALLY today I got it right. I had a PERFECT ATKINS DAY! Exactly 20 carbs. 72 ounces of water. Lifted weights for 45 mins. I am so psyched that I finally pulled it together. Now I am ready work on two perfect days in a row. I know this sounds silly but I have had a huge mental block since November and it has been a struggle every single day to get to this point! I feel finally I am ready to really recommit!

Wow, it feels good to score 100% on food, water and exercise! Keep up the forward press and add another day to that score each and every day!

        Re: A Perfect Day

All it takes is 1 day to start building a new foundation for a beautiful new you! Don't get down on yourself if you can't be "perfect" everyday.

Get a straw to drink your water with -- you can suck more through a straw without even noticing you are drinking than without a straw. I'm speaking from experience - give me a glass of water and it will sit most of the day - put a straw in it and I'm drinking like a mad woman!

Find a couple forms of exercise to do so you can switch off and not get bored - boredom leads to stopping your routine and you know Dr Atkins says we need to exercise to loose weight.

Another thing -- stay off the scale - don't drive yourself batty wondering if you have lost 3 ounces today ... you'll only set yourself up for bad times.

Congratulations -- keep up the good work...you'll make your goal before you know it!

Thanks all. The water is coming easy now. Once you get drinking it again you seem to want more. And my exercise has been back on track for awhile, although lifting weights again has been the one area I have lacked motivation- but I have three sessions behind me now so I think I have my doldrums beat. The food was the final hurdle. Yesterday I scavenged the import stores and got three kinds of cheese, some new veggies and some fresh basil (yippee) to make pesto. Having something to work with in the kitchen will make a huge difference! It is 2 pm and so far, I am batting a thousand!

I sooooo miss pesto! I had never tasted it before last summer, but it was a big hit and I was using it on everything. I always bring in a couple of pots of basil, so I have it fresh over winter, but this year I brought in a bunch of whiteflies with my herbs, which soon decimated all my herbs, including chives. I am just now starting some new basil, so it will be a long while before I have enough to make pesto.

Sunny, we can occasionally buy fresh basil leaves here and it grows like crazy IF, and that's a big IF, you can get it to start. Mine seem to get an inch tall and then die. But if you can get them going, they grow to two feet tall and you have pesto coming out of your ears! Then the hard part is keeping up with the trimming so it doesn't bolt to seed on you.

                  Re: A Perfect Day

I am hungry tonight but have been good all day and saved 1.5 ounces of cheese for later as an emergency snack. LOL I walked about 7 miles today between exercise and shopping but I am chalking it up to a perfect day 3. I want to make it to 14 and then once I am past induction I know I am home free and back on track. Unfortunately I am cooking a Greek dinner for friends on Saturday. The appetizers and lamb and moussaka aren't a problem (for bechamel I use a cup of cream and an egg to thicken, later I add ricotta too) but baklava is sooo wonderful and I know my guest is bringing some so I guess I will have to fill up before dessert! I am determined not to have even one bite. I know too well how steep that slippery slope is. At least the whooshy fairy is being kind. I must have a lot of water in me because today I was down two more pounds--that makes 4 in two days. I NEVER LOSE THIS FAST. I guess God figured I needed some incentive! I expect a bounce back up but that would be OK too. Been there before. It's not about the scale.

                          Re: A Perfect Day

Had a stressful busy day but my DH is off to Bangkok on business and I decided not to cook tonight. Soooo I went to our neighborhood Indian restaurant and got my favorites: Rogan josh (lamb curry) and tandoori spices to make my own tandoori chicken at home. YUM YUM YUM. It so hit the spot and they threw in a cup of their sour cabbage slaw as a bonus. I was in heaven! Fourth perfect day in a row! Ten to go...
