  • Very proud of my olive garden dinner last night

So i love zuppa toscana (didn't have any)
and lets not even mention the bread sticks I didn't have

I had the salad... really not sure how many carbs in the dressing but I left off the crutons

Then I had the grilled salmon

    with squash

no after dinner andes mint that they give you

So I fought off those bad carbs, feel great this morning about my choices, no guilt, stayed with atkins, enjoyed my dinner and was satisfied. BTW yesterday dh said I looked hot hahaha hey maybe it's becoming a way of life!

I'd say it is. Good job for choosing Atkins-friendly food options!

Ooohhhh!!! you have given me hope of being able to return to my ALLTIME FAVORITE restaurant! We got married by a justice of peace and didn't have a reception... We went out to olive garden with all our friends afterwards... we have been married for ten years this week and I would love to go for our anniversary!! Did you have any adverse effects from the salad dressing??? I must admit that I have never had anything other than pasta there.... Is there anything else on the menu meat wise besides samon???? I really don't like fish...

Congrats on not having the soup or the breadsticks! Good choice on the Salmon and squash!

When I saw that you had the salad it made me go eek ! One time in the past I made "Olive Garden dressing" at home and the recipe called for Karo syrup. Dressings - especially in restaurants - are notorious for being loaded with sugar. I'm not sure how many servings you had, but each serving without croutons has 22 carbs. As long as you feel good, don't have cravings, and are still in Ketosis then you should be fine.

Before going to a restaurant I try to look up their nutritional info online. I enjoy eating out every now and then and know that I safely can, but don't want to be surprised by hidden sugar and other non-nutritional carbs.

I am ok with the carb intake I had. I don't think the dressing did anything to me. There really isn't that much on it.. anyway

there are other options for meats: There is a steak you can sub veggies for the potatoes also there are some other meat options although I am not sure what they put on them for flavor... you might have to look that up...

Ok I looked it up salad without crutons.. 16 carbs.. with the serving of squash 5 cabs and the only other carbs I had yesterday was 1/2 avocado... so like 24 carbs total.. not to bad for going to a restaurant!

Meli, it is always a good idea to ask the dressing on the side or even ask them to change the dressing in the menu with a dressing of your choice (oil & vinegar, SF ranch, etc.). Any decent restaurant is able to accommodate this and no one raises an eyebrow.

BTW, of those 16 carbs (which are total carbs, not net carbs), 5 g came from the Italian dressing. Some of them were certainly from sugar, but definitely not enough to throw you out of ketosis. Italian dressing is, in most cases, a safe(r) option when eating out.
