  • Here I go...start pics ew!

So after seeing the all the amazing b4 and after pics on here I figured I should take some of my own to see my progress. It is amazing to see what you really look like in a picture when you are not sucking it in or attempting to strike a flattering pose lol.

Well lets just say that after seeing my pics I am a tad more motivated! I am ready to get this thing going. Part of my motivation is a wedding I have to go to in May. It is a whole weekend event and I know that bathing suits will be involved yuck! So I am determined to loose as much as I can in 10 wks!

Can anyone give me some tips on some good portable options? I am a college student so I need to pre-pack a few days a week.

    Thanks!
50lbs. down, now I need atkins to help me with the last 22!!!

    Welcome, ohmynic!

Yes, there is nothing like an unflattering before picture to motivate you!

Portable options.... get a small cooler or insulated lunch box and pack deviled eggs, celery stuffed with cream cheese, chicken, cheese, radishes, cucumber spears, string cheese, a small salad in a styrofoam bowl... the possibilities are endless!

I know what you mean about the before pictures being surprising. I was going through my photos on my computer to find a start photo. I found one of myself 10 pounds from now (last summer, when I weighed 10 pounds less than currently), from when my boyfriend, 2 friends, and I were on a hike. It's a picture of me and him. And I look... awful. I mean, my face and hair look fine, but my body. Yucky. And it doesn't help having my boyfriend, who's the very epitome of a beanpole, right at my side. :C

Hi Nic -- glad you are here! I see you are looking for suggestions for portable meals. There are so many options you shouldn't get tired of eating the same thing.

Get a small cooler, that will be easiest! You can freeze water bottles and put on the top or bottom to keep things cold -- and when they thaw out you can drink them. Or you can get one of those cool pouches that fit in coolers - but you can't drink those!

lunchmeat rolled up with mayo or cream cheese is good for lunches, leftover chicken, all kinds of veggies (radishes, cucumbers, green peppers, cauliflower, broccoli, etc) all pack easy.

Go to Linda's site for suggestions of other things you can make & take. She has a section for Induction menu's and for OWL menu's. Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Daily Menus I honestly don't know how I'd make it through without her recipes some days.

Leftovers are probably the easiest thing you can pack and take. There are recipes for "sweets" -- Sunny One gave me one for pumpkin bread tonight that sounds delicious!! I make flax cookies that give me enough sweet and crunch that I feel like I'm getting a fabulous treat (and it will help keep you regular!!)

Don't forget to read the book, live by it, learn the rules and drink plenty of water (at LEAST 64 oz a day). If you need help getting water down, get a big glass that has a straw and suck the water down -- you won't believe how much more water you'll be able to drink and not think about it.

Join some exercise challenges here on the board -- nothing costs any money to do and you're probably doing them already, like drinking water or walking, crunches, pushups -- check them out because it's easer to do them if you have to be accountable!

Good luck and just remember you are never alone! This board never closes and there is always someone here!

          Nic,
I pack a lunch every day. On weekends I make a pot of my super fiber chili (it's in the recipe forum), and take two small bowls with me. I also take cheese sticks and last night's leftovers. Of course I also take a gallon of water.
