    please help me. I am on atkins day 3 now. Only lost 1 pound. WELL i binged after losing 10 pounds and gained it all back after an icecream attack. Does it usually take longer to loose the second day around? Also what is the best exercise plan to get you started.
    If at first you dont suceed try again.. IF i can do it. Anyone can.

    I'm a little confused as to whether this is your 3rd day after the ice cream binge or if the ice cream binge happened within these 3 days.
    Besides that, there are a number of factors which affect your rate of loss. Age, gender, the amount of weight you have to lose, your metabolic resistance. I'm afraid without a little more info, I can't really see how people could give you advice.

    As for exercise, do what you're able. If you can manage 30-60 minutes on an elliptical, that's good. If not, walks are also good. And weight training is big.

      Hi, ashleykc7182. Sorry to hear that you binged on ice cream. Stay strong!! Don't give in to your cravings girl! The longer you go without cheating the easier it gets. You kind of get this I've come to far to turn back now mentality.

      On the exercise, according to my dad's doctor(by the way the doctor put him on Atkins) walking is the best thing you can do. I believe it too! My dad has lost 35 pounds and he walks on his treadmill on a 6 incline for 35 minutes every other day now. In the beginning he would walk about 45 minutes twice a day.

      Also, in my opinion, I think that any exercise is better than no exercise.

      Don't get discouraged about your binge. Just vow to do better each and everyday. If you don't get it the 1st time try again and again until you do.

      You can do this! Where there is a will there is a way now make it your will to make it the Atkins way! All of us here on this board's rooting for you!

        The ice cream will set you back, but you will lose again. Basically what happened is you totally shocked your body when you ate all that sugar. The quick easy thing to do when the body thinks it is under attack is to retain water. It was getting used to using the ketones and fat for fuel then mahem came and well your cells exploded. The weight will come off. It will take a week I am guessing to get the body to settle down and flush out that water. If you think about it the sugar is like poison and the body was just protecting itself.

        You can do this next time don't go for the ice cream go for the recipe forum or make your own smoothy with real cream and sweetener. Less damage and tastes way better.

          ok so i just went back on atkins. I have been running for a week and in ketosis for 8 days. Lost 3 pounds only. Im on anti depressants and i think its messing me up. I dont know what to do now;. When i was on it not long ago but not on anti depressant i lost so quick. Im scared i wont be able to get weight back down. That was the reason i went on anti depressants cause i gained 87 pounds with daughter and i had image issues on top of anxiety from old drug use dont judge it was a long time ago. Someone please right me back im desprete. im drinking so much water i can burst. I really am getting lost.

            Only 3 pounds? Please realize that is a perfectly decent start! In fact, any faster than two pounds a week would be extreme! You can lose a bit more than that in the first week or so, but losses of more than two pounds a week should be considered phenomenal... and should not be expected. Your body will give up the fat, just stick to it. You have the weight loss begun. You are in ketsosis, you can't NOT lose, just be reasonable in your expectations. Keep exercising but relax mentally... there is no need to feel desperate. You are okay and can do this!

            You believe what you tell yourself, so be kinder to yourself. You aren't lost, you are successfully embarking on a path to better health. How would you talk to your best friend if she said what you wrote? You would encourage her and remind her she was doing a great thing! Please, never talk to yourself less kindly than you would talk to a friend. You are on a great journey and have already gotten a few 'miles' under your belt! It will be great!

              Losing 3 pounds 'only' is not bad at all, Ashley

              Although we all hope to lose big chunks of weight on the first 2 weeks our body will decide, and if yours is allowing you to lose 3 pounds so far you are still losing in spite of your medications maybe slowing your progress

              Just carry on eating Atkins and see how you go.
