  • Fluff...& a little poll

I just finished my 3rd week of Atkins and have been loking around for new recipes. I came across a post that mentioned "fluff", a concoction with whipped cream, splenda, vanilla and cream cheese. Oh My goodness, I don't know why I made it, I should have know! Is that stuff really legal probably only if I eat 1tsp or something, right?

I have to say I am amazed at the ingenious recipes some people have come up with that are induction friendly. I saw one for a pumpkin muffin!

I am curious what most people do. Do you :

1.Stick to the basics:eggs, meats, cheese and allowed veggies

2.Make concoctions of the allowed foods to mimic high carbohydrate food you used to enjoy, including artificial sweetners.

I am just wondering because I've felt like I cheated big time! I am wondering if it could somehow slow weight loss?

    Fluff... sounds delicious.

So far, I've basically stuck to plan, with only a couple of not-so-legal moments. Being at college limits my ability to get fancy with food, so I haven't made any low carb pizza or anything like that. The most I've strayed is a couple of tbsp of whipped cream tonight. And some peanuts (ok, a lot of peanuts xD) about 5 days ago. But as soon as I have the resources to make fun things, I will certainly try them out!

      Hello!

I am new myself. I try to get my "good stuff" in first, then see what I have left to play with. There are some WONDERFUL recipes on here. I mean, you see the ingredients and you think, yuck, how can you make this out of THAT! But if you try them, they are amazingly good! I guess big people really do know what tastes good! Best of luck to you!

I try to get 100% of the RDA for all my nutrients before I indulge, but I do enjoy playing with food to make yummies that are low carb copy cats. If one of them sets off cravings, however, I never make it again. LowCarbFriends Recipes - Main Index - Powered by ReviewPost has a ton of recipes, both those that use real whole foods and "non food"(tampered with) products. Just make sure your treats are legal for the step/rung you are on. Oh....and if you're using high fiber products as a replacement for flour or otherwise, make sure you increase your water intake or you will regret it!!

Hi erin, ive got weakness for heavy cream so i havent had any in the house let alone ate any lol. I figured the best way to tackle my cravings was to go cold turkey while on induction so I havnt had splenda either. Everyone is different of course and some people could make and eat a legal serving but I know ide end up with a bowl full. x

I make a version of this with cream cheese, heavy cream, splenda and lime juice - like a lime cheesecake topping - delicious!

One of my favorite tricks is for a legal white sauce or bechamel. I use heavy cream, cheese and an egg (which sets the topping in the oven) instead of a flour thickened white sauce. Its actually better than the original for moussaka or lasagna (made with eggplant or zucchini "noodles" of course.

I'm boring, and seriously lack any ability to cook so I stick to the basics.

Fluff sounds delicious though! May have to give it a try!

I stick mostly to the basics with an occasional flax muffin, MIM, or a pizza quiche.

I stick to the basics with no exceptions during the week. I allow myself low carb desserts or sweets on the weekends. Doing it this way allows me to stick to the reasons and basic ideas that the typical American diet filled with the wrong carbs is the reason that I am on Atkins, but allowing myself treats in moderation helps keep me satisfied and on the wagon.

I have found that if I eat sweet things then I just want to cheat. so I try to stay away from them. The only thing I allow myself is decaf coffee with splenda. fun huh? haha... I do make a lot of made up recipes though not really to mimic anything but just to use instead of where would use rice or potatoes... like eating my meat over mushrooms or something like that. the one thing I do do is egg and bread with parmesean before I fry foods
