  • Interesting observation - not really a surprise

Hubby and I on January 4, 2009 entered an 8 week challenge at the Anytime Fitness club we belong to. It was called "I Lost It At The Club". This was prior to my starting Atkins. My starting weight was 212.5. I hit the machines on average of 4-5 days per week. 1 hour of cardio on the Treadmill & 30 minutes of strength training, rotating between arms & legs but doing Abs daily. For the millionth time I started doing WW to help boost my efforts........fast forward to the end of our 8 week challenge. A whopping 5 lbs lost, weighing in at 207.5lbs. How completely depressing is that.

Obviously I had been tracking my weight through the 8 week challenge and was becoming beyond frustrated. The day after the Challenge weigh-in I began Atkins. Now just 11 days into it I am down 11.1 lbs.

This should be proof enough that my new way of living/eating really works!

    Smiles,
    Lisa

P.S. - for whatever reason that I really cannot explain, probably frustration, I also 'jumped ship' at the Club. If I can see an 11 lb weight loss withOUT Exercise imagine what I can see WITH exercise......... I can seem to talk myself out of going even when I am just blocks away.

My mini challenge for today........ I AM going to the club today and I AM going to start my work-out program again. I will aim for 45 min on the treadmill and 15 minutes of strength training!!!

1st Congrats on the loss, both doing WW (I always gain when I do WW) and with Atkins...good job.

If this is any inspiration, I started back at the gym on Monday and am already down 6lbs in just four days...I refuse not to go now!

      Good luck to you!

          Welcome to the board, Lisa!

That's a great story! The last time I did WW, I lost 10 lbs in a month but gained it back the next month because it was just too hard to stick to those skimpy portions and non-filling foods. You made the right choice when you started Atkins because it's the best WOE there is.

Keep us posted on your progress!

You just proved to yourself what eating plan works best for you! Don't give up on the gym, though. You were just on the wrong eating plan for you.

I admire people that do well with WW, but I am not one of them. I've tried WW twice, doing it by the book, and gained weight both times. I just can not handle the carbs allowed.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.
