  • Always bloated

Ok, my wedding ring has not fit for the past three weeks, my fingers are really bloated this morning and have been for over a month now. Should I be worried or is this just part of our ever changing female bodies?

    Re: Always bloated

Hi, when you start to lose weight your body naturally starts to get rid of the estrogen that it stored inside the fat cells. This can cause bloating for the first while that you have changed your WOE. A good way to counteract this is to start drinking a lot of extra fluid. This will help your body to excrete the water that you are holding. Also if you find that this does not help, it could also be that your liver is overwhelmed by the toxins and such that you are getting rid of. You can take something that will help your liver out from the health food store.

If you have been on a lot of Antibiotics you may also want to take an acidophilous supplement. I started that about a year ago, I found that everything was always bloated. Since then, I no longer get the swings in weight or the bloating.

Just a few things that you can try. Also, if you are eating processed meat or hams and bacon there is a lot of salt in that. You may want to try and eliminate some of the salt if that is the case.

I hope this helps you out.

    Doing GREAT. Keep it up.

      Re: Always bloated

basketball, are you drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day? If you are not getting enough water, your body is hanging on to all the water it can for dear life.

That's a VERY bad situation when you are producing the metabolic wastes that fat burning causes. It can be very dangerous.

The more you drink, the more you will flush out. So try upping your water consumption for a few days. Also if you are eating salty foods, cut back on them.

That should free up the excess water so you can get rid of it.

I agree. I usually find I am far LESS bloated when I am on this WOE and it is because my plain pure water intake is UP! Also if you are using diet soft drinks--stop them and substitute water for a few days and you should get a nice flush and probably a whoosh too..

As long as the herbal tea has no 'illegal' additives it should be OK

ok, I'll bite, how can a tea bag have "illegal additives?" Tea is a 100% natural beverage. I'm not being snippy, I'm just really lost on this one...you check tea leaves!!!! lol

I'm very interested in this - I have endometriosis and an ovarian cyst which is linked to the endo - I've noticed an improvement in the symptoms since being on Atkins. This rang a bell so I looked up some old info I had and reduced oestrogen levels do help endo symptoms.

Actually this is not a hijack because I'm sure several women suffer from the same problem and are bloated as well, you just helped lots of people and did not even know it...have a great weekend all.

I think most tea bags are fine, but you should try using decaf tea. If you buy loose leaves, some flavored teas may contain ingredients like caramel or chocolate. So yes, it's good to check those tea leaves.

Most leaf teas and herbal teas are fine. They do have a very small amount of carbs, like coffee, so I count them as 1 carb.

As Georgianna said, though, use decaffeinated tea. The caffeine can trigger cravings.

Ok, now I know I've found the board for me, you are all diehard! I never count herbal tea, herbal tea is naturally decaffeinated, I can not consume caffeine, it makes my heart rush. But I will never count a tea bag and water as a carb snatching drink...I think that is just silly.

I don't want to be paranoid about everything I put in my mouth. The beauty of Atkins is that we can really relax and lose. I want to keep it that way. I will cut out my Lipton dite teas (already made in the bottle), but my one or two cups of herbal tea in the morning...count the carbs in them...no way.

                        Thanks for the input all

I agree that most herbal teas don't have additives but some of the fruit flavoured and spicy ones do - I only wanted to suggest to check the label just in case

Nope, I refuse to check the label of my herbal tea for carbs...again, I think that is a little over the top.

                            thanks for the suggestion though,
