  • Dreamfields Pasta...anyone have any experience with it?

Hey everyone, I would like to know if you can share your experience with this product. Dreamfields claims to have only 5 grams of digestible carbs in a 2 oz. serving. I tried it last night and must admit it is quite tasty. I did not have a blood sugar rush or experience any crash later. My keto stix were still pink this morning. I would like to know if anyone else has any knowledge of this stuff, and whether or not it really delivers on its claims. I am including a link to the product.

Hope to hear from you all!

    Down 70+ pounds since October 3, 2008!

Re: Dreamfields Pasta...anyone have any experience with it?

It was developed for diabetics, but when the low carb craze hit, the clever manufacturers began promoting it as a low carb noodle alternative. It's noodles that have been treated with a fiber. The fiber allegedly slows the digestion of the starches/carbs, so it doesn't affect blood sugar as much.

It's a hit or miss. For some people it affects their blood sugars. For others, it doesn't. For some people it gives them "explosive" bathroom issues. For others, it doesn't.

It's best left until the On-Going Weight Loss Phase.

According to the nutritianal information is has 41g Carbs, 5g Dietary fiber, 3g Soluble Fiber, 2g Insoluble Fiber per 2oz dry pasta

      PDF of nutritional info http://www.dreamfieldsfoods.com/pdfs..._spaghetti.pdf

The way I see it, each 2oz has 36g carbs not 5g which they claim on their home page.

How do they get to 5g? Magic Carbs?

      Stay away from this stuff!

        No explosive developements yet

I'll probably make it again in a few weeks with some Victoria's Marinara sauce (very low carb sauce that is tasty!~).

        Thanks for the feedback!

They have something on the site about a process that binds most of the carbs together in some sort of protein structure to prevent digestion. I believe that is how they ultimately arrive at the 5 gram figure. I wish there was some sort of independent verification of this. I think science can do wonders, but I always try to remember that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I'll see where my weight is at the end of the week to determine if this stuff is good or not for this WOE.

Personally I would stay away but YMMV

I use it occasionally and like it... but stayed away until maintenance. Now, I'm very careful with portion size too.
My brother is diabetic and it didn't work for him... was just like normal pasta with regard to his blood sugar. I know it's helpful for some diabetics though.

I love the stuff and it doesn’t bother my weight loss at all. I also eat the low carb bread and that rocks too! If I’m cutting my carbs back really low then I won’t eat it but other than that, all the Dreamfields items are really tasty and don’t stall me at all. The LC bread with the flaxseed really gets things moving if you know what I mean. TMI for some but for those having BM issues this may reallyhelp.

No problem with TMI in my opinion. Better to know in advance than not, right?

Exactly! and since constipation is a common problem among us Atkineers, I always try to share any helpful nuggets that I discover along the way.

I've been waiting for this vine to pop up! I love love love dreamfields, I've used it in the past and it has never stalled me nor do I ever have bathroom problems...it is just a wonderful product allowing low carbers to actually eat something that actually has the texture of what it claims to be! LOVE this product!

That said, I am doing strict induction right now so I have to just look at all the boxes in the cabinet and dream....

I agree - that's exactly why I'm reading this post! I wanted to see what "effects" it had. I'm not on the Grains Rung yet, so I'll stick with my Shirataki. Besides, I like to make homemade pho, and it's perfect!

I added them on rung 4, but only use them once a week for pho. I make a bun (missing essential Vietnamese language characteristics). Traditionally, it's julienned cukes, daikon, with (I omit) roughly 1/4 C shredded carrots. Add a skewer of (hot) grilled pork or beef and serve over a bed of romaine lettuce, cold noodles, and fish sauce (nuom ploc?). In the winter time, I add hot broth, which (surprisingly) doesn't badly wilt everything, and just adds to the flavor. With the broth, we're looking at less than 6 carbs for the MEAL! And yes, it's filling! You can use any extra veggies you want. I like zucchini and a few brussels sprouts.

Mmmm...going to the Asian market today!
