Re: Need DESPERATELY to lose 30lb :-(

I did not compare my weight lost with anyone else. I was sharing how I was doing on the diet just like I see others do. Was that a crime???? For your informatioin people do look on this site to how people are losing weight and at what pace. I am not in a race with anyone but excited for all who is dropping the pounds. I also did not say I wrote the diet but most people like myself are looking at how people are doing it. I did not say I was right or wrong but was saying for me all I can really do is drink shakes and eat salad because of my own taste preferences. Sorry you took my post wrong but maybe you could have responded different and ask instead of assuming.

Amara, that part was not addressed to you, but to the original poster.

Oh, I see. Since we are on an Atkins board that goes by DANDR 2002 and since what you were saying is definitely not Atkins, I assumed you were joking. But you're right, I should have not assumed this.

Mom, I just want to stress once again, that it is not a good idea to try to "match" the rate of loss between individuals... there are just way too many variables in play to do that. I don't wan't you to get discouraged if it doesn't come off as fast as you want it to.

Personally, even though I had 90 pounds to lose on a 5' 2.5" frame, I only lost 7 pounds during Induction and then averaged a loss of between 1 and 2 pounds a week. This meant that on some weeks I lost 2 pounds, most weeks I lost 1 pound, and some weeks I lost 0 pounds. But remember - the scale does NOT tell the whole story. And since Atkins is a lifestyle change and not just a means to lose weight, we can't get hung up on the idea that we're trying to lose weight as fast as possible. We're learning how to eat for life.

Best wishes to you on your journey!

I lost 9lb on induction - 4 weeks (need to lose around 50lb all up). But my cm's is what has impressed me the most... 17cm off my waist in 4 weeks.

I have just moved to OWL to get the kilos going again.
              Start weight - 89.1kg (196lbs)
              Goal weight - 65kg (143lbs)
              Height - 166cm or 5'6"
              Age 43

              Progress:
              2/9/09 - 89.1 (196.0)
              2/16/09 - 87.1 (191.6) - 2kg (4.4)
              2/23/09 - 86.2 (189.6) - 2.9kg (6.3)
              2/27/09 - 85.0 (187.0) - 4.1kg (9.02)
3/16/09 starting OWL because I have stalled

Re: Need DESPERATELY to lose 30lb :-(

I started at the same time as my sister Beth. We had the nearly same number of pounds to lose. We are the same height. We have the same parents. I'm two years older. She lost her weight faster than I did.

So it's not wise to compare yourself to others.

I also agree that everyone's weight lose is different, in no way should we compare or become discouraged. It's all about your own personal body and how it responds. I believe the weight will come off if we stick to the plan. I still have a hard time with craving sweets, that is the biggest thing that I am facing. WOWWOW is that a battle.

I lost 15 pounds during induction and have had a pretty steady loss thereafter. The better you stick to the plan, the more exercise and water you get in, the better your results you will have. I can tell you that this is one way of life that you cannot cheat on. You get what you give because everything depends on your body's chemical reaction to the foods you eat.
Pay attention to how your clothes fit as opposed to the scale.
I wish you the best of luck with your weight loss...
