Re: hi im new just a few quick questions!!!
yes u can have a meat but also eat your veggies and drink plenty of water stick to the plan and u will lose quite a bit the first 2 weeks...if u need to get fast food try for rotisserie chicken with a salad or u can have burgers but dont eat the bread if u ask for a double meat ask for the cheese in the middle of the patties yes this will work if u follow the induction for the first two weeks to letter

Re: hi im new just a few quick questions!!!
Hi Chris,
Welcome to ADBB and to Atkins
Here's a Sticky I would like you to read through.BEFORE you begin the Atkins Nutritional Approach... It will help guide you. Do you have DANDR 2002? That is the book we go by here. Do your parents know of your plans of doing Atkins and do they support you? That would be great if you have that support at home.
Actually you will be getting in your veggies during induction along with dairy and meat. You will find the Induction allowed food list there in that link. Also the rules of Induction. Only eat food off of the Induction food list.
You will be getting the majority of your net carbs from veggies. So important.
Make sure to post often, maybe join some challenges. A great way to meet people and make new friends.
If you have questions, ASK!
Again, WELCOME!

Re: hi im new just a few quick questions!!!
Yes, to your question about men losing better than women. That seems to be the case frequently. My DH lost about 80 pounds quite easily in about 7 months. It's been five years and he'd crept back up a little recently. He got really strict again and he's lost the excess. So, YES, you can do quite well with Atkins. Just be sure to follow the plan as it's laid out in DANDR. Good Luck!

Re: hi im new just a few quick questions!!!
hello!!
I just wanted to say hi and welcome to the board! Sherri already gave you some fabulous information and I just wanted to basically re-iterate what everyone else has said...but also - no matter what, do not get discouraged...Asides from the DANDR (Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution) book, I'd also seriously suggest you educate yourself as much as possible on WHY a low carb diet really IS the healthy way to live. And it is. Low-fat dieting (after 20 years of doing so myself...i've finally learned) but low-fat dieting really is NOT good for a human being's body.
Fat IS good for you - as long as you are not eating all those unhealthy grains and carbs along with it - but instead are eating very healthy green vegetables.
If you're interested in recipes at all (i know you're a 16 year old male and fast/easy is probably what you're looking for, lol - shoot i'm a 29 year old female and i want fast/easy! lol) - a great site is Linda's Lowcarb site
Also - do a google search for "Jimmy Moore" and you'll find a guy who lost over 180 pounds on atkins! his blog is fabulous as are his podcasts.
GOOOOOD LUCK!!
