I tend to drink a mixture of ANISE and Green Tea every night with a little bit of half and half and splenda to relax me b/f going to bed but i do know that Green Tea does have slimming effects just not sure if it really helped me much..but this is a good drink though!

once in a while i'll have chai tea with cream and splenda. Same as akader, I drink it in the evening to help me sleep, although lately I haven't been needing it. I'd think as long as it isn't chock full of caffeine or sugar or some other naughty thing that it would be ok.

I've been drinking a slimming tea that I got at safeway. Has kind of a licorice taste. It's a herbal tea. Quite good. It seems to have a laxative effect which is why it's called "slimming tea" As long as there's no sugar or weird stuff in the tea, it should be fine.

Several studies have shown that green tea does indeed increase the fat oxidation rate (e.g. Dulloo et al. 1999). Dulloo et al. showed an increase of 4% in energy expenditure in subject who consumed 2-3 bags of green tea per day (the equivalent, in tea bags, of 50 mg caffeine and 90 mg epigallocatechin gallate). For a person my size, 4% means 60-70 calories per day. So to lose 1 lbs from drinking green tea, I would have to drink 3 cups of tea every day, for about a month and a half. Green tea is of course healthy for other reasons, but in terms of weight loss... 1 lbs in 1.5 months doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

Weight loss teas that act as diuretics can be bad for you, especially when following Atkins. Atkins has a diuretic effect anyway, and adding this to the one caused by a tea may lead to dehydration and mineral imbalances.

Tea is allowed on Atkins, but you should make sure it doesn't contain caffeine (can trigger cravings) or other "illegal" ingredients. Also, you should not count tea towards your water intake. Other than that, it is your decision what tea you drink.
