Re: How much loss did it take to go down a size?

I was a 10-12 when I first started, and was just wearing 10's by 2 weeks later. By 9/11 about a month thereafter (I was living in Manhattan at the time), I remember wearing an 8 that day.

Here, here to the 5'10" ladies!!!! First time around I was 210+ and in 18s. Four and a half months later, I was 170 and in 10s. I stabilized about 175 for about three years and that was either 10s or 12s. I'm at 182 right now and most 14s are falling off of me and the 12s are too tight. Grrrrrr.

hah we abnormally tall ladies have to stick together! yep kelly thats exactly where I was at. I remember going to old navy and trying on 12s and having them be JUST too tight to want to wear around in public, then putting my 14s back on and feeling like I was swimming in them. So annoying!

I change sizes about every 10 pounds. I am currently 15 pounds up from a year ago and 2 sizes in jeans. Hope to be down a size after induction!

OK, from a guy's point of view, I started at 241 at 38s. I was in 34s when I entered Wonderland. I have gone down to 33s this month and gained 2 pounds. I am lifting pretty hard almost every day and gaining weight yet shrinking around the middle. I should be in 32's shortly.

I found this to be an interesting thread to read through.
              I'm 5'10" and drop a size after a 10 pound loss.
              I was a size 64 at 374 lbs. I'm a size 16 at 225 lbs. and a size 15 at 219 lbs.

Re: How much loss did it take to go down a size?

When I started close to 300 it took 20 pounds to change my size. Right now at 231 it is taking about 15 pounds per size but I expect by the time I get to One-derland maybe 10 pounds will make me drop a size.

I am frustrated as I've lost 26lbs and I'm only down one size. No where even close to being into the next size.

Interesting thread... to tell you the truth I dont know because I havent checked my size and am just going by how my clothes feel. My XL pajamas are loose and my large pajamas that i couldnt fit in to I can easily get into.

But Ive lost about 25 pounds and wear the same clothes out though they are looser. I have a fear of going to the department store and finding that my size hasnt really changed and getting disappointed so I just havent done it. Maybe if my clothes was falling off of me then I would have to but that hasnt happened yet. Im curious but am afraid.

Re: How much loss did it take to go down a size?

I found in the past that the difference between one dress size in pounds depends on how heavy one is. For example for me and I am about 5'6" it takes 10 pounds to go from a 12 to a 10 in US sizes and about 5 pounds to go from a 10 to an 8 or an 8 to a 6.

A lot of sports wear for riding and skiing come in large medium and small and the difference between them is about 10 pounds.

Now with extra large the cut is different and there maybe more pounds involved, I am not sure because I wear my BFs (men's XL) and his t shirts fit like a mini dress for me, just right to sleep in.

Re: How much loss did it take to go down a size?

I drop a size every ten pounds and I am 5'4", 162.56 centimeters.

                        160 lbs / 72.5 kilos = size 12
                        150 lbs / 68 kilos size = 10
                        140 lbs / 63.5 kilos size = 8
                        130 lbs / 59 kilos size = 6
                        120 lbs / 55 kilos size = 4
                        110 lbs / 50 kilos size = 0/2

I have been all these sizes 2 times over, working on my third time and hopefully this will be the charm to not do it again!

I'm 5'8" and it only took 8 pounds for me to get from size 14 into a 12, but with all the squats and lunges I was doing (and still am) I lost 2" off my hips in 3 weeks I've lost about 15 pounds so far? and still in the 12, I figure when I hit 175 I'll be in a 10 again...and then 162 seems to be the number I need for size 8.

When I lost weight the first time on Atkins I kept wearing a size 14 for the longest time, and I finally went shopping and came home with size 10s! I wasn't quite believing that I had lost that much weight. Oh and I finally decided to go shopping becuase I was running after my child who had left his lunch box in the car and my jeans fell down in front of about 100 children and their parents, so it was time

I forgot to add, it also depends on HOW you lose the weight. If you are exercising a lot the fat is transforming into muscle, which weighs more than the fat but is slimmer. So you can be actually heavier and still be slimmer. That explains why the huge bodybuilders have such tiny waists.

I guess the reverse can also true if you have been exercising and you stop, maybe due to an illness a hospital stay or something, you can lose weight but stay the same size as your muscles turn into fat which weighs less than the muscle but takes up a larger area.
