Yes, this is exactly why I say the scale (digital) must be replaced, there is no way I could possibly see that much of a difference! My hands are smaller, I've lost 2 inches on my waist, my upper arms are looking better, the jeans I wore to NYC a few weeks ago were pretty big on me this past weekend, not falling to my knees, but not binding like they were then, so I know that all my efforts are paying off and the scale at home must have seen better days...

Ok, maybe you are not understanding, the scale at home only shows that I am gaining, one day it was a five lb gain even though I was doing everything right...

And the other thing is that I CARE, I care very much what the scale says...why? Because I am attempting to lose weight not gain.

I constantly have to remind myself, that the scale is not the only thing that should solidify your results. Your measurements and the feel of your clothes should be enough to tell you that you are indeed headed in the right direction. It took us a long time to get as fat as we did, and it takes even longer to take it off. I constantly have to remind myself to be patient with myself and just keep plugging forward towards your goals. Another thing.. you may want to try only wieghing your self once a week. I get absolutely obsessive about the scales, and it can and does drive me a little crazy at times. I have my boyfriend hide the scales and put them out for me once a week. otherwize I am jumping of and on them everyday all day. Nuts for sure. Know in your heart of hearts , that you will make it this time, believe in yourself !

Ok, thanks for the encouragement, it really means quite a bit. I, however, am not one of those people that will see an increase and run screaming that Atkins does not work, I'm no where near wanting to give up...nor am I in a hurry, I've given myself an entire year to see a 50-70lb loss, plenty of time. I'm losing, I just have a scale that has probably gotten tired of my fat &^%$ getting on it and has decided to die...lol. I would never hide my scale or only weigh once a week. I love my scale, it tells me what I want to hear (when I'm doing the right thing) and what I need to hear when I'm not...lol. The fact that the scale in the gym is consistanly going down tells me my scale must be wrong. I've never weighed myself in the evening...just in the AM and at the gym.

Your words are kind and I appreciate that,

        you guys are great!!!

Also, judging by this post and previous posts you seem to be very sensitive about ANY weight gain. Weighing in once a week will help calm you from freaking out everytime the scale goes up a pound or two.

I can use both if I wish, I know the scale at home is not correct (I was upset because I changed the battery and thought that would be the solution...it was not...the scale is broken). I have to use more than one scale, I have weigh-ins every month at the doc's office, I certainly am not going to wait an entire month to find out if I'm doing things correctly...I weigh myself every day, and no, it does not drive me crazy, I actually enjoy weighing myself, what makes you think I'm sensitve about ANY weight gain? Are you confusing me with someone esle? I've done nothing but lose since starting here...

Just going to reiterate what everyone else has said. Use the same scale. All scales are calibrated differently. Everyone is telling you the exact same thing and you just don't seem to want to accept this sage advice. Use the one at the gym or use the one at home but do NOT use both of them and then freak out about the differences between the two. Weigh yourself everyday if you want but always do it on the same scale and try to do it at the same time of day. And if, for some chance, you do happen to gain weight one day, don't sweat it and think you must have done something wrong. At the end of each week average your weight for the week for a better idea of what is truly going on with your body.

I am not freaking out, why do dieters always put this stereotypical behavioral flaw on other dieters...some of us can get on the scale, see a different number and not 'freak out'. The numbers are different, they are ranging from 10-15lbs different, believe me when I say I have enough matter in my head to know one scale is broken and one is accurate...I will continue to use two...no three (counting the scale in my doc's office) scales, and I will be perfectly happy with it. Why is it that people need to reiterate what others have said, if I've stated over and over again that I am not going to give up my scales why not just leave it alone?

Thank you for the input, but I was upset that my scale is broken, not that I thought I weighed 12lbs more than I do...lol

Sorry to misunderstand you, I'm just not sure what your post was for then if you aren't "freaking out"? If you know the scale is broken then what is this thread about?

The one suggestion I can make if you feel your digital scale is broken and you want to try to fix it is this. My previous scale, which was digital, also seemed to act up. So I took it from the tile floor in my bathroom and then put it on the carpet in my bedroom. I turned it on on the carpet, stepped on it, let it calibrate itself to that flooring, and then wait til it shut off by itself. I then took it and put it back on the tile, turned it on, got on it and let it recalibrate itself to the tile. Not saying this will solve your problem, but it worked once for me so maybe it will help you.
