  • I need help before I get Discouraged!!!

    Okay, today is my day 7 on induction. I started ST. Patrick's Day. Anyhow I started out at 226 on the 17th and on Sat. the 21st I weighed in at 217. That's 9lbs in like 5 days, I was totally stoked!!!. Well here it is the 24th and I weighed in this morning at 220. Completely upset. How do you gain back 3lbs on induction. I swear, I am doing it totally clean. My ketostix read large amounts and I am completely confused at how that happens. Could someone please help me out before I end up giving up again.

    Are you excersizing? If so, that 3 lbs could by muscle. One of the biggest rules to follow on this diet is "Don't be a slave to the scale!" Use your clothes to mark your progress. Trust me on this. I gained a little back as well after I started excersizing, but despite the 'gain', my pant size went down one size. Also, is it that time of month? I gain about 3-5 lbs the week before my period.

        First thing is this: step away from the scale and don't step on it until Day 14. Weight will fluctuate. There is a sticky thread in the 14 Day Induction forum about Weight loss not being linear. It has some good information.

        If little fluctuations in your losses is enough to make you quit, then you might want to weigh only once a week. Or else you'll end up discouraging yourself too much.

          actually I am just finishing TOM, and yes I have been excersizing. I do 20 min of turbo jam everyday except I didn't do any on sat and sun and yesterday I did it 3 times to make up and my body is dying today, so I will be doing a different video but its still 45 min long.

            Lots of things will cause a temporary jump. High sodium on a particular day, any alcohol, red meat even does it to me, One of the tricks is to figure out what makes this happen for you. Also if I drink less than 80 ounces of water my losses slow down. And losses are always slower after the first week. A couple weeks stall right after induction is also common. Keep doing everything right, exercise, drink water, and stay off the scale. This too shall pass.

              How much water are you drinking? YOu should drink half you weight in oz of water. Aim for at least 100 oz of water per day! It will help trust me!!

                jmarie the same thing happened to me. I started on the 12th and TOM showed up on friday the 13th. I lost about 10lbs in the first week, then it jumped back up 2 or 3 lbs with no explanation other than i started gaining the day I layed off the excersizing and went away from home for a few days. No cheats, but no work outs. Here I am at day 14 and i'm just now back to that 10 lbs. Your body has its own way of doing things, you may not be doing anything wrong at all, its just how it works sometimes.

                  I AGREE WITH WHAT EVERYBODY SAID,I THINK THAT IT'S HAPPENED TO ALL OF US!I KNOW I FOR ONE HAVE BEEN DOING INDUCTION FOR ABOUT 7 MO.AND SOMETIMES I LOSE6 PDS IN ONE WEEK AND THEN GAIN 2 THE WEEK LATER ,BELIEVE ME J.MARIE, THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES THAT I JUST WANTED TO THROW IN THE TOWEL ESPECIALLY ON WEEKS WHEN I KNOW I WAS EXTRA STRICT AND I WOULD STILL GAIN INSTEAD OF LOSING,BUT THEN DAYS LATER I WOULD LOSE THOSE EXTRA POUNDS,ANYWAYS TO SUM IT ALL UP I JUST WANT TO TELL YOU TO PLEASE NOT GET DISCOURAGED!I KNOW IT CAN GET FRUSTRATING AT TIMES BUT IF YOU STICK TO THE PLAN BELIEVE ME IT WILL ALL BE WORTH IT IN THE LONG RUN AND YOU SHOULD DEFINETELY TRY TO WEIGH IN ONCE A WEEK,SO THAT YOU WON'T GET DISCOURAGED IF YOU SEE YOUR WEIGHT FLUCTUATE A LITTLE,SO GOOD LUCK AND I KNOW YOU CAN DO THIS JUST GIVE IT A CHANCE!
