  • Week 2 Induction Stall?

    Hi Guys,

I don't know if any of you are Biggest Loser fans but I am (a little too much). They talk a lot about the week 2 stall because you're body's in shock and doesn't know what to do. Do you find it is the same for Atkins? I lost a whopping 8 pounds in my first week and my second week is absolutely going slower.

If you have...what do you do to break through this plateau a little?

Thanks guys! Would love some help and insight!

2nd week almost always goes slower and the dreaded stall usually falls somewhere in the 3rd to 6th week. As fer as breaking it goes, sometimes you just have to wait it out and keep doing things right until your body says "I give up I guess I have to get with the program". The main thing is not to get frustrated enough to give in. Eventually you will win out if you stick with it. I do suggest staying away from the scale for a week or so when things really slow down. Measure inches instead. As you said your body is adjusting--sometimes you can't hurry it. There are threads on this site regarding the Post Induction stall. Check those out for more on this. In the meantime keep your fiber, veggies, exercise and water way up. It is all you can do.

As chinadoll says, don't give up. Remember, slow and steady wins the race! Hokey, but true.

In the "Most Memorable Threads" forum, there is a thread called "PISS--Post-Induction Stall Syndrome".

              Re: Week 2 Induction Stall?

Thats exactly what happened with me. I lost the first 10 lbs by day 8, and then my weight went UP 2 or 3 lbs, and it took me the rest of my 2 week induction just to get back down to where I was on day 8. And thats with no cheats and lots of water. It doesn't necessarily mean you're doing anything wrong, its just how your body gets used to the changes.

Katie, just plug your food into fitday to see if your fatrotein:carb ratio is on target. If you prefer chicken and fish to red meat, you can always get your fat intake up with olive oil, mayo, or a creamy sauce (chicken breasts with a cream and pesto sauce, mmmm) so don't feel you must eat red meat for the fats. Although a good steak is never a bad idea in my book, but maybe I feel that way because you can't get a good steak here in China. LOL My first purchase when I go home in the summer is a really good, T-bone or Porterhouse and cook it on the grill. I may not be able to afford for the rest of the summer, but it tastes so good after a year of Mongolian range beef.
