    Re: loss of appetite?

I ran into that problem, you HAVE to eat. If you're bloated try upping your water. You should eat every 4 hours something small never go over 6 hours without eating. One thing I have noticed is that my stomach never growls anymore, it's because i am eating small meals every few hours. I know that if it starts to growl I need to eat. I call it the Growler Gage!! lol Before I started Atkins my stomach growled all the time. That was when i would only eat one meal a day and that's the reason I got myself into this mess!

lol @ Growler Gage...thats cute...yeah i know what you mean..i have a bad habit of eating one meal a day also...i am cooking a little meal up now...and actually..i can smell it..i am kinda hungry...hehehe....im trying to at least have 3 good meals with a protein shake here and there added in. its working too! but i think also my stomach must be smaller as it doesnt take much to get full thats for sure. had a salad yesterday and it wasnt very big and i was like oh no this isnt going to fill me up..could hardly finish it..

That's been happening to me too! I can not eat the amount of food I used to either. I have changed to using the smaller plates that I have. That helps me get control of my portions. I need to get a food scale so i can be a little more accurate, but this is working for now. Whatcha cookin??

Yes not eating is bad. The plate size has definately changed. I read a statistic that for every inch Americans plates grow, our butts grow .5 an inch. Makes sense. I guess it kind of works in reverse too if you thinks about it!

The loss of appetite (and cravings) is what convinced me to do Atkins again! It's so unique compared to low cal/low fat diets.

yeah really..i so agree..bad carbs not only made me more hungry but made me feel so tired and just feeling weird..like dizzy and stuff...with protein i feel so alive and refreshed...and ..i eat a bite or two of food and feel full.

its just a great lifestyle...i dont even like to call it a diet..we are eating the foods we are supposed to be eating...and trust me..once you had a good whole grain bread you cant go back to wonder bread or whatever..gross...i made some low carb spagetti for my friends and they wont eat anything but whole grain products...it just tastes better period.

thanks for the response btw. your doing a good job keep it up!

The lack of appetite is a side effect of ketosis. I found it really helped me gain control of portions etc, and made it that much easier once I moved to pre-maintenance/maintenance and was no longer in ketosis.

I did also have to force myself to eat enough for a while though..didn't last too long to be an issue. I found keeping my fats up helped me.

I think Atkins is a great way to learn to control your appetite. The effect it has on your body, you have no other choice than to eat less. I don't really know of anyone that is starving on Atkins.
