  • Scales be EVIL!!!!!

    ok maybe not evil but....

Just from being on here a couple days i can already see a common theme and that is people are using the scale way way too much.

ok so your on atkins..doing good..you think....then you get on a scale..and omg omg omg you havent lost anything!!! the horror!!!!

now i can promise you that the hard core Atkineers are smiling while reading this.

Weighing from time to time is important, it shows how your body is doing..but keep in mind it depends on WHAT YOUR DOING!!!

Now if someone takes up say weight training while doing this, its possible to get on a scale and gulp...weigh more!!!!

i think the most important thing to say here is for heavens sake dont let a scale upset you to the point you give up or go negative.

are you exercising? eating better? following the plan? then trust me when i say your getting healthy.

    dont give up!!!!

and no more than once a week on that scale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is different for everyone. For some people, the scale is a motivator. Others get on the scale and if they don't see a loss, they give up. For me, whether I lose or not, the scale reminds me to be accountable. When I gain a few, I know I've probably gained muscle and some water weight. When I lose some, its satisfying because I know the fat is slowly melting away. I get on the scale every day because it reminds me of how far I have to go and that I can't afford to cheat. It also holds me accountable if I do cheat, because I know for sure that I will see it reflected in that number. I already know that this works for me as long as I stick to it.

well i am glad your strong enough not to let it effect you in a negative way...and your using to affirm your goals! thats awesome.

i dont let it effect me either but for new people, i would suggest once a week. they dont understand the up and down weight thing that really could like you say involve water and muscle..it messes some peoples heads up.

its more about being consistant and doing this for life. we all have our bad days...hopefully more good ones!

Couldn't have said it better myself. It did affect me negatively at first and it was tough to stick it out anyway. Now its a source of inspiration for sure. If it causes trouble, stay away!
